zinco - which is better the tinted or untinted

I started trying the tinted zinco again Saturday. So far so good but

I want to give it a couple of more days before I order the large

amount. Right now I just have the sample. I'm curious though which

is better the tinted or untinted. I've been using it in the place of

my foundation. It doesn't cover like my foundation but it does

pretty well. Is the zinco suppose to help with rashes or what?

Anyway I think I want to start using it at night too but right now

I'm just trying it during the day. My skin has been so dry probably

from photoderm which has finally been giving me some good results. I

have to apply moisturiser before the zinco. A couple of days I was

able just to use the zinco without the moisturiser and that seemed to

work better except my skin got really dry. When I do apply the

moisturiser underneith the zinco, the zinco sort of smears. But

without the moisturiser it does a good job. My skin is so dry it

itches. Its not seborrheic dermatitis though. Thanks for any input.

I put on a light coat of emu oil followed by a light coat of tinted

Zinco, and this works well for me. I do have dry skin, but the above

combo works for me. Jojoba oil also works well underneath the ZincO

in my case. I find that ZincO applies more easily over a light coat

of oil. I've been using the tinted version for close to one year and

like it very much. I haven't tried the untinted version.

FYI for those considering the Tinted ZincO...

I have fair skin and find that the Tinted ZincO is too

dark for my skin tone. I've tried mixing the Tinted

and Untinted in order to get the correct shade for me,

which works, but this is too much trouble (and too

expensive) for me. As a result, I prefer using the

Untinted version, topped with a light foundation for

coverage. If you have light skin and are intrigued by

the Tinted version, you might want to consider getting

a sample first to make sure that it will work for you.

Incidentally, I always wear Dr. Sy's Vita-Oil under

the ZincO and find that this works well. What's nice

about the Untinted ZincO is that you can wear it at

night, and I do find that it calms my skin and

prevents rashes/flare-ups.

Yes, this is good advice. I have a very fair complexion, and the

Zinco does make my skin a bit darker. However it looks like a light

tan on me, which I like. But for anyone considering the tinted

version, it would be a good idea to get samples of both tinted and

untinted to decide which (if any) you want. Some members have had

problems with the product, which is to be expected given the wide

variance of skin sensitivities among rosaceans. For me, ZincO is a

wonderful product.

--I have dry skin also; and have found the following to work well. I

squeeze out the tinted zinco onto my palm, add 1 to two drops of jojoba

oil, mix it all together, wet my fingertips, mix that as well, and then

apply. I find this allows better absorption into the skin. When I

apply the oil to my skin first and then put the zinco on top of that my

skin has a greasy look to it, but then the zinco feels dry on my skin.

Sheila--I have dry itchy skin too and have tried both the tinted and

the untinted. For some reason, the tinted is much more soothing to

my skin. The untinted makes me itch the instant I apply it but the

tinted doesn't. It might just be me, though!

I tried the untinted Zinco (sample size) and I found it too difficult

to smooth on. It was very thick. I had to really rub, which

irritated my skin. It seems like the tinted zinco is of a

thinner/finer consistency, and I can gently smooth it on. However,

the tinted zinco doesn't provide as much coverage as I'd like, and it

is a bit too orange for my skin at times. Overall though, I'm

pleased with the tinted Zinco. I use it every day. At night I use

DML facial moisturizer.

Maybe you could smooth the Zinco on with wet fingertips or perhaps mix it

with a lotion of some sort to thin it out? Just a suggestion....
