Guest guest Posted November 8, 2001 Report Share Posted November 8, 2001 Hello all... I did the Atkins before, but didn't stay on it long enough to see a big difference. Doing it again and staying on it this time. I spent a good amount of time talking to my doctor. He said that my BP and all blood work is fantastic (cholesterol is around 125-150). And this is eating all the " wrong " foods acording to the Goverment and Nutritionist-- high fat, fried, meats, et cetera. So he gave me a double green flag to go on the Atkins diet. I have been reducing my carbs over the last twelve months anyway. Just found I felt better and was not nearly as tired. So a five days ago now I went cold turkey. Been eating a lot of eggs, steak, and pork and cheese-- or in many combonations. Not really snaking much at all, and if I do its normally pork rinds and cream cheease mixture. Not much of a coffee or soda drinker in general. Doing mostly water and Crystal Light. My big craving is Milk. Whipping cream just isn't the same. I have a huge park behind were I live (Shelby Farms in Cordova, TN) and bought a hand held GPS. Not sure what my biggest problem is, my weight or my " geekness " for gagets. Figured that this will give me a great reason to want to do some hiking and/or walking. The list is great reading about how everyone is doing and all. But I have to admit it is rather frustrating to try and find the original recipe everyone is raving about. Not sure how many of you know about itbut along with eGroups/Yahoo doing the list you can also have a Database connected to the list. This would be a great central place to put all these great recipes. For the people that lack a geek streak I would be more than happy to put the recipe in the database. All you need to do is send me the email directly. I didn't see if I could enter items into the DB but I can work that out with the list owner. About 15 years ago, I worked on creating them within Aircraft Navigation Systems and it's hard to believe they're now available in hand-held devices to the general public at such reasonable prices. The ones I worked on were able to pinpoint your location on Earth within about 15-50ft. The technology was quite nifty! As an aside, welcome to the list TG, we look forward to getting to know you. That sounds pretty good, except it is king of high in the carb department, if I am not mistaken, and I could be... garlic is about 1 carb per TEASPOON. At least I figure they are since my rural northern Michigan Wal-Mart is doing so. If you find it there, that will most likely be your lowest price, and won't involve any shipping cost. My rural southern Oklahoma Wal-mart has protein bars/shakes by the pharmacy, but no Atkins bake mix <<< I think most Wal-Mart stores are carrying the Atkins bake mix in the protein bar/shake aisle. FYI: It won't work indoors-- and you must be outdoors with a clear view of the sky for it to work properly. It will tack my route as well as show my movment time, full time (including stops), speed, distances, direction, and like you said, if I get lost I just back track my route or tell it to point me to " home " .
