Guest guest
I just found out that the meal plans that I left the hospital with at the initiation of the diet were incorrectly calculated by the previous dietician at Detroit Children's. The new dietician recalculated a few of my daughter's meals and they came up to 3.7 and 3.8 (supposed to be 3.5 ratio)! Either that or the new dietician has made an error? Someone goofed. Just thought I'd pass this information along in case anyone was needing to recalculate their menus. I find it increasingly difficult to trust any of the doctors or medical staff that we deal with. When it all boils down, we - the parents, are the most important aspect of our children's special needs. I now double check everything just to be safe! I will remember these feelings that I have as a parent and incorporated them into my future as an occupational therapist when working with special kids * " listen to the parents " ! Guest guest
I suppose it was the first dietician who determined the ratio for 's diet plan. She was started on 3.5:1 originally, but the 2nd dietician calculated it out to be 3.7 or 3.8 after checking the ingredients and quantities on a few meals. At any rate, she was gaining too much (1.5 lbs in 6 weeks), and losing seizure control so she jumped to 4:1. It's been 2 full days and no seizures!! 's been happy and very verbal (does she come with an " off button " ?) No, I love all the songs she's singing for me! I will be on the look out for signs of acidosis, but so far, so good.
