Guest guest
What causes bile acid levels to rise? What would cause the BA to rise with the other LFTs remaining stable? Minor Noah update on this subject: after frustrations with the Pitt crew (thought that sounded cute- btw it is the pediatric Pitt crew) and basically being told that we would have to live with Noah’s feelings of “little people walking all over him” while sleeping and the like due to tremendous itching. They were going to send us a bile acid lab order by snail mail, but I still don’t have that. So, we took him to the pediatrician and now have him on day 3 of antibiotics for a sinus infection that you know they can’t prove, but might help the bloody noses…and then gave him histinex syrup for the cough and possibly to help him sleep since they nixed the Benadryl. Today CHP called to check on him. (SURPRISE!!) They are going to call another mom of a biliary atresia kiddo that has terrible itchies to see what they did for him…since Noah is already on rifampin. I am just surprised that they cared enough to check back in on him. They are calling the pediatrician with a full liver panel and bile acids to draw instead of just the bile acids. So..we’ll see. Any thoughts?
