Guest guest
hi, I want to get more fat into my son's diet. We have been scd 2 months and 1 week. I was thinking about the almond milk. I know it is advised to wait for 3 months to intro this, but Jake is so picky, I think this is my best bet. Does it contain much fat? thanks in advance, Karla, mom to Jake, asd, s.d, asd 9 weeks. _________________________________________________________________ Take advantage of powerful junk e-mail filters built on patented Microsoft® SmartScreen Technology. http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-ca&page=byoa/prem&xAPID=1994&DI=1034&SU=http://\ hotmail.com/enca&HL=Market_MSNIS_Taglines Start enjoying all the benefits of MSN® Premium right now and get the first two months FREE*. Guest guest
Karla, Have you tried avocados yet? Very easy to digest and loaded with good fats. How much is he eating in the way of nut-based baked goods? Jody mom to -6 and -8 SCD 26 months
Guest guest
Hi Jody, I tried the green pudding, wouldnt eat it. I THINK the banana smell turned him off- HATES banana. I have not found another reciepe for avacado that I think he would eat. He only will eat pudding like textures. I have also eliminated honey for a while, suspected culprit for night waking and overall return of foggy behaviors. He used to be addicted to animal crackers, but since this diet, I cant get him to eat crunchy food like peanut butter cookies. I think I may have tried them too soon, as you may remember he starved to 9 days and at that point I was desperate so I made pb cookies and he ate a bunch, then they were in his bm. and I think he felt even worse ( die off, pb cookies). So no nuts to speak of since. I recently tried to intro cookies again ( john's pizza crust w/ vanilla and cinnamon) he wouldnt even TOUCH one...he removed bread from his diet before we started SCD . not much to work with.. thanks for your continued support, I really appreciate all the suggestions and info. Guest guest
Jody, Could you clarify when nut milks may be introduced? On the pecanbread website, nut milks are listed in the Stage 2 category under the heading of Fodd preparation, but I believe that in BTVC, Elaine suggests waiting 3 moths to introduce them. Thanks, (mom to 3 yr old)
Guest guest
How about the avocado meatloaf or avocado chicken salad? Do you think he might try either of those? I think you'd be fine trying the almond milk. You could try it or the coconut milk and use it for a base for a smoothie or soft ice cream. Since you are probably still doing cooked foods, just cook the fruit first, then freeze it. Then you can use it for smoothies/ice cream. Guest guest
Thanks, Jody. I will for sure try the nut milks, I never thought of the coconut milk. is there a maximum daily allowance? . I will definately look at the meat loaf and chicken salad. I have never considered those because of his sweet tooth, but I would like to move him in that direction. thanks so much Karla > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: pecanbread >Subject: Re: almond milk >Date: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 17:16:17 -0000 > > >How about the avocado meatloaf or avocado chicken salad? Guest guest
I read in a previous post that you should not attempt to reuse the leftover almond flour from the almond milk. Is this also true for coconut flakes after coconut milk? I was considering adding them to my son's custard recipe for more bulk and sweetness. thanks, Karla > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: pecanbread >Subject: Re: almond milk >Date: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 17:16:17 -0000 > > >How about the avocado meatloaf or avocado chicken salad? Guest guest
" I read in a previous post that you should not attempt to reuse the leftover almond flour from the almond milk. Is this also true for coconut flakes after coconut milk? " Karla, I tasted it once to see if it would still be good for anything and it really didn't have any flavor at all. I don't know that it would taste good in anything. It is very fibrous and it's probably not a good idea to add it to anything unless you are completely symptom free and can tolerate whole nuts, raw foods, beans (legumes), etc. Jody mom to -6 and -8 SCD 26 months
Guest guest
Thanks, Jody. I am glad I asked.
