Guest guest
Hi, anyone know if something like Crisco is SCD legal? I couldn't find palm oil shortening in the store and we can't do dairy at all so butter is out as a substitute in recipes. I searched the archives and I didn't notice any mention in the book either so I thought I'd pose the question here. Also, anyone have any recommendations on a really tasty SCD cake recipe that they've personally had experience with? My dd's 2nd bday party is coming up and I'd love to hear what others have had success with, since I don't have a lot of time for trial and error navigating recipes I've never tried before. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Claire, How about coconut oil? I tried it awhile ago - it hardens when it's not near heat so it's like shortening, I guess. I never baked alot before now so I don't know much about shortening. I have never made a cake on SCD so I can't help there, sorry. > > Hi, anyone know if something like Crisco is SCD legal? Guest guest
Hi , I didn't think of coconut oil, but that is definitely something I'll try, since it is solid at room temp unlike other oils -- thanks! Guest guest
I favorite is the Peanut Butter Cake on the Pecanbread website: http://www.pecanbread.com/recipes.html We used it last year for our ds's birthday and I use it a lot for cupcakes.
