Guest guest
Hi there. Barb sent this to me since I live in Houston and had a recent scare with cholangiocarcinoma. I'm so very sorry to hear of the dx. My drs were very confident I had it, turned out I didn't, so I can somewhat understand what Joe is going through. I was dx with PSC in '99 (30 yrs old) and tx in '01 - due to expected CC. My gastro/hep here in Houston is Dr. Victor Ankoma-Sey of the Texas Liver Associates of Houston. I cannot say enough good things about him. His office number is Unfortunately, I do not know an oncologist off-hand but a friend's relative, sister-in-law, beat a very rare brain cancer recently. I just talked to him and soon as he gets the name, I'll pass it on. The Dr. is at MD - one of the leading cancer facilities in the world. You may want to check out their website http://www.mdanderson.org/. Dr. Ankoma-sey's office may have a list of drs as well. Please feel free to contact me directly if there is anything I can do. All my best, Darin Dear Friends, Joe received the results of his liver biopsy today. He has cholangiocarcinoma. His gastro in Austin wanted to refer him to San , but Joe wants to go to Houston. Joe's previous gastroenterologist in Houston, Dr. Ian Sachs, from 1999, when Joe had his J-pouch surgery, is where Joe has started for referral. Joe would like to know if there are any prominent names for gastroenterology, oncology and hepatology in Houston that you all could share with us? Thanks, mother of Joe (32), UC 1987, J-pouch 1999, PSC, acute pancreatitis 03/06, chronic pancreatitis 12/06, cholangiocarcinoma 12/
