Guest guest
Hi, Besides from the Apple & Pear Sauce, I see no other beverages listed for the Intro or the Stage part of the Diet. What can you drink on Intro & at which " stage " could you add other " legal " fruit jucies? I see the Intro diet allows broiling of hamburgers & roasted chicken. How do you roast the chicken if " baking " in the oven is not allowed at Intro? What is broiling? (I live in South Africa & am not familiar with this term). If I can't broil the hamburgers &/or chicken, then can I braai (barbeque to the US) them or will a bit of " baking " in the oven do no harm? How many eggs are allowed per day, before they are considered to be " harmful " ? Thanks
Guest guest
Hi , > Besides from the Apple & Pear Sauce, I see no other beverages listed > for the Intro or the Stage part of the Diet. What can you drink on > Intro Apple and pear sauce are not on the intro diet. After the intro you can gradually introduce them. The drinks on the intro are legal apple cider or legal grape juice - diluted to half juice & half water. & at which " stage " could you add other " legal " fruit jucies? After the intro you can introduce other legal juices. They should still be diluted. > I see the Intro diet allows broiling of hamburgers & roasted > chicken. How do you roast the chicken if " baking " in the oven is not > allowed at Intro? What is broiling? Broiling is placing food under direct heat. The broiling allows fat to drip away. If your oven does not have a broiler you can BBQ it just don't let the meat burn If you bake them try putting them on a rack that allows fat to drip away from the meat. Elaine has said 3 eggs /day are okay (that doesn't include eggs used in baking) Sheila
Guest guest
Is pear juice made at home in a juicer legal on the intro diet? My son avoids apples and grapes because of his sensitivity to salicylates. Thanks. (mom to 3yr old)
Guest guest
, Golden delicious apples are actually low in phenols. Have you tried them with him before? Jody mom to -6 and -8 SCD 26 months
Guest guest
Jody, I haven't but I just bought some to see how he does. It would be nice to have another food in the repertoire. Does that mean that homemade pear juice is not legal on the intro diet? Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Jody mentioned trying golden delicious apples made at home in a juicer, so I am assuming that this is legal on the intro diet as a substitute for apple cider. Is this correct? Also, how much juice is allowed on the intro diet and also after? Thanks, mom to 3 yr old
Guest guest
Hi , Homemade pear juice is SCD legal, but should be diluted to half water half juice. The only juices on the intro diet are grape juice and apple cider (both diluted). Sheila, SCD 49 mos, 20 yrs UC mom of , SCD 34 mos > Is pear juice made at home in a juicer legal on the intro diet? Guest guest
Hi , That's correct, pear juice is not on the intro diet. But you can try and introduce it after (diluted with water). Is this correct? Yes, you could use that for the intro. You'll want to make sure that some of the pulp/fiber is out. You can use a strainer for this and still dilute the juice (half juice half water). The pulp may be too much for an injured gut. > Also, how much juice is allowed on the intro diet and > also after? You want to try and balance juice along with other things so they don't " fill up " on juice.
