Hi

My twins could never (and still can't to some degree) keep up with the words to

a fast song.... when they were 3 in preschool hand. and at the Xmas concert when

Rudolph was the song the words were way too fast for their mouths to make

them..they would move their lips to make it look like they could do it....they

knew the words but could not possibly sing it that fast. We did have that CD

(forget name) that slows the songs down but honestly they didn't like it....

They do belt out songs and like to stand on the fireplace hearth and have

competitions singing like God Bless America where you have to hold the notes and

your voice " wiggles " (thank God I didn't decide to teach music....15 years of

piano...can only sing in car..lol)...They are 8 but listen to music that their

10 and 12 year old brothers listen to...I try to listen without them

knowing...and I still can tell that they cannot keep up with the words all of

the time....just like the whole making Communion and saying the prayers

quickly....

Funny though, they certainly can talk, yell, scream their words quite rapidly

without hesitation.....and I'd say the one twin really speaks too fast....maybe

that's to cover up any artic probs???

Hope the singing bit is part of the apraxia???? Any one else have older kids do

the same??? It makes sense to me as they know what words are coming up so are

anticipating how to make the sounds correctly whereas when they speak and if

they cannot say a word they can substitute it for something else....???? kathy
