Guest guest
Suzanne, In this case my experience may not apply to others - the fountain of info may be more of a trickle. I feel that I see both a faster failure of the bile ducts and a slower effect on the liver function. So this time around I see a rise in bilirubin in 4 years which took 8 years the first time around. But the corresponding liver failure symptoms - most notably edema - are delayed. I currently credit this to better drugs and supplements working synergistically to keep my little liver cells happy. I would like this situation to continue, however, as you point out, I may have a sudden deterioration when the liver is finally overwhelmed by the longterm exposure to backed up bile. For now, I continue to do fairly well with itching and fatigue my biggest complaints. You are not being dense, I just am not very exact. This is all just my subjective felings about how I see PSC progressing. I would like to hear what others - especially those who have received another transplant due to recurrent PSC - view as the similarities and differences between PSC the first time and PSC after a transplant. Regards, Tim R > > Tim, thank you........you are as always a fountain of info. Are you saying that while the disease progress is faster there are little symptoms as you progress into end stage? I'm not sure I understand. Is it that it progresses so quickly that there is not the time for the symptoms you mentioned to build up? Are you just suddenly very sick having reached end stage without having realized just how quickly the liver has deteriorated? Forgive me for my denseness............ > > Suzanne > > RECYCLE YOURSELF * BE AN ORGAN DONOR >
