Guest guest
My son dx'd apraxia has had a total of 4 ST sessions. I know it may be too soon, but I am kinda worried. I know apraxia isn't a typical speech delay and it takes special things to get those kids talking. My son has been doing great with trying to talk. His vocabulary has grown. A lot of words are said wrong (or partially) but I know what he means. Strangers probably wouldn't know the word he said. Anyway. One of his words is Mo- which is NO. Then he will say Ine for MINE. The ST said it's funny (in the way of thats strange) that he can say the /n/ in mine but not the N in NO...and that he drops the M in Mine. To Me though, from what I read this is typical of apraxia. Which makes me afraid that this ST doesn't know what she is doing. This is through EI, he is receiving ST 3x's a week and this is the person EI recommended for apraxia. We talked about apraxia and she said its a lot of work. She doesn't really do any cueing with my son which seems to help him, forget about prompt. She said for his age (27 mos) we won't see much until he is more like 3+. What do you think? Thanks!
