Guest guest
Tomorrow and I are attending a course at our hsp. to learn CPR & Anaphylatic something or rather. In South Australia they have brought it in this year that if your intending or already do home IV's then you must have done these two courses and mut have ambulance cover. This is to safeguard the children. The hsp. pays for the course which is good. I think its a great idea although the thought of role playing in CPR makes me worry, I hate that stuff. Has anyone else had to do these courses? Liam 7 wocf & Eilish 4wcf
Guest guest
I've never heard of Anaphylatic. I was required to take a CPR course when I was working in a personal Care home. I also had to take First Aid. In Nursing Homes you have Registered nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. As a nursing Assist. in a nursing home I didn't need these courses as we weren't allowed to administer these. Only LPN's and RN's were allowed. In a personal Care Home ( the one where I worked anyhow ) there doesn't have to be licensed personnel except for maybe 1 RN. If an emergency arises we need to act fast. I never had to use that practice. I really had my fingers crossed! My CPR runs out this February since it only lasts a year. I'd need a refresher course. The First Aid lasts for 3 years I think. from PA
Guest guest
I've taken the CPR course, they didn't use role playing...they had a hi-tech dummy to practice on. My guess that is what you'll have...its pretty dangerous to practice CPR on anyone! Good luck on the course, I've taught the anaphylaxis course, that one's really easy if they are using Epi-pens. Enjoy, Jane Baxter wrote: > Tomorrow and I are attending a course at our hsp. to learn CPR & Anaphylatic something or rather. Guest guest
Hi has an anaphylactic reaction to peanuts. We have to carry an epi-pen, which is an adrenilin shot, to be given in the case of breating difficulties. Tania. Guest guest
I've done both CPR and the anaphylatic one - from working with kids. At least I wont need to do those when our time comes at the end of this year for home ivs. Kristy > Tomorrow and I are attending a course at our hsp. to learn CPR & Anaphylatic something or rather. Guest guest
Jane, Yes they used the Epi-pens which seem good but I was surprised at the length of the needle 19guage. We did CPR on dummies (dolls not menLOL) . Im only hoping I will remember any of it in an emergency. Guest guest
Tania, Yes that's the pen so if you do home IV's in the future then you'll get one for Evan also. Guest guest
I know what you mean...I think in a crisis it would " click " in again. Sure hope so. I think the epi-pens are big 'cuz it needs to be in the muscle. We tell our teachers here that if you can't get the snow suit off in time give the injection hard through the fabric...so the needle had better be big! I've never had to use the epi-pen for real but I carry one with me all summer because of a bee allergy. Jane - cute dummy comment, !
Guest guest
Kristy, Did you get a certificate?
