Guest guest
I have not taken this med, but many of you have. I found this article interesting. Cheryl To: DEA and National Press The Petition to Save OxyContin: The miracle drug for Intractable Pain We American Chronic Intractable Pain Patients have been in a life and death struggle to be able to get the pain medication we need. Even those of us with Cancer have been forced to kill ourselves because we can't get the pain medicine we need. The DEA has violated the Controlled Substances Act, and permitted uneducated Field Agents set " dosage amounts " across the country by falsely, arresting doctors who treat pain if they provide " adequate and ongoing " amounts that patients need. We believe that the DEA's latest assault against us has been to use its " assets in the press " to start a feeding frenzy over the few OxyContin deaths around the country by addicts using it by crushing it up, " cooking it " and then shooting it up while drinking and using other drugs as well. Those deaths are nothing compared to the deaths of American Pain Patients who cannot get pain medicine because of the " Purge of Pain Doctors " that the DEA has been involved in over the past 6 years. 16,500 of us die of the bleeding complications of NSAIDS because doctors are afraid to provide us with " real " pain medicine instead. Our suicide rate is 900% above the average because of the " Purge of Pain Doctors " and tens of thousands of us die of strokes and heart attacks over the increased blood pressure caused by nationwide untreated chronic pain. NIH calls the under treatment of pain a " National Disaster " but rather than stopping this " disaster " the " Lap Dog Press " is pumping out these OxyContin Con Jobs that have the public up in arms over the deaths of addicts who took some OxyContin along with their alcohol and other drugs to get a high. We Chronic Pain Patients don't' even FEEL any kind of High or Euphoria when we take OxyContin, the pain just goes down far enough so that we can have a 'normal' life despite our life threatening painful conditions now being blocked from treatment. Most of us have " suicidal pain levels " that can ONLY be controlled with medication like OxyContin, and it only takes a " few pills per day " to control that kind of pain because of its unique compounding. The DEA had set the " daily pill count " low, that CAUSED the need for the compounding the OxyContin drug in the first place, as the only way that pain could be controlled around the clock. The Purdue Pharma Company was RIGHT to market this medicine as the kind of miracle drug that it is, and every doctor in America should be using it for their patients suffering. The DEA's efforts to distroy OxyContin is in violation of their agreement to stand by the Dallas Covenant they made three years ago to support the Pain Treatment Guidelines by the Federation of United States Medical Boards you can review at the link below.* Instead, doctors are taking patients OFF the drug because of the false and misleading stories in the public press and the so called " news. " We therefore present this petition to SAVE OXYCONTIN for those Fifty Million of us who suffer and are having our pain medication dosages set by the DEA rather than the Medical Community. We ask that all Americans who are fed up with the way Pain Patients are treated in difference to addicts, to sign this petition on behalf of OxyContin, for our very lives depend on saving this wonder drug that has given back so many Americans their lives. Please make a Remark about how OxyContin or any pain medicine has changed and or saved your life. Sincerely yours, Skip Baker, President, American Society for Action on Pain. * http://www.asappain.com/Patspeach.html http://www.asappain.com/ http://www.actiononpain.org
