Guest guest
Hi Deanna, I'm right there with you. Are the raw fruits and veggies helping? Unfortunately, they don't help me. I've also been adding ground flax seed to smoothies, salads... just about everything. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. I've been told we're suppose to go 2-3 times per day. I go once every 4 days. I've also tried Enzymatic Therapy Fiber Fusion. There again... sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. I've noticed, though, I'm not as constipated when I use ground flax seed and Fiber Fusion. HTH a little. Cheryl in NM souldream74 wrote: Hey everybody! Guest guest
Yes!! I was diagnosed with colon inertia right before I was diagnosed with celiac. It is still just as bad even though I've been gf for six months. Tomorrow I am visiting a MD who is also a Chinese woman doc who does adjustments, accupunture and the like. She asked to see me to see if she could help. She is one of the last three ideas I have. If you want to visit about this more off-list please email me privately. I'd love to see what you've found that works....or doesn't.souldream74 wrote: Hey everybody! Guest guest
Hi Deanna and Cheryl, You are describing my sister and my husband. In my sister's case we think it was candida (a yeast that can grow in your intestines). It has been found to completely turn off the bowels. It can just shut them down entirely. She had been hospitalized a few times in her life because it was so severe. One doctor said he gave her " enough to unstop an elephant " (TMI) and very little happened. She had to go on some very serious antifungal medicines after a surgery and she was a different person after that. Regular and normal. She has to watch her sugar and dairy consumption and her yeast consumption (no alcohol, yeast " breads " , etc.) I suspect my husband is dealing with the same thing but he is unwilling to change his diet any more than he already has. He is gf and egg free and feels that if you eliminate his sugar, limit dairy and take away his occasional glass of wine you are taking away the last of his few enjoyments. So he suffers through it. He has tried all kinds of natural remedies and herbal compounds. Some have had a limited success but nothing really noteworthy. A friend of ours who suffers from the same thing was just recently diagnosed as gluten intolerant. Her doctor told her to go gf, dairy free and take psyllium husks with A LOT of water during the day. She also started probiotics. She said she feels like a new person. I hope you both can find an answer. 8 months pregnant and constipated. Oh, I feel for you. MArcie Artistart.com Hey everybody! Guest guest
Also, don't forget that constipation is one of the major complaints during pregnancy. The digestive tract slows down significantly to help absorb as many nutrients as it can. This also my have something to do with your symptoms. I am also pregnant and have constipation. Increasing the fiber will definitely help. I also have been taking metamucil when it gets bad. > > Hey everybody! Guest guest
I have a cousin who, as a child, needed to have part of his bowel removed as the result of constipation so severe that it caused infection in the intestine. It was diagnosed as Hirschsprung's Disease which is very rare as I understand it. Now that Celiac has been found in our family, I REALLY question if this was correct. I wonder if it also was not mis-diagnosed celiac/gluten intolerance just like mine was blamed on allergy. This is my Mother's sister's family. I am pretty certain my Mom had undiagnosed celiac (can't tell for sure as she died 4 years ago), but I do really wonder about her sister and their family as well. Several have symptoms including my Aunt, who is in a nursing home with what they believe is Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's was blamed for her mother's death, but this family has a higher incedence rate than Alzheimer's usually has. With the articles of gluten ataxia, I wonder if it is not more that. Especially since our family tends to be IgG positive.... Cheryl in MNrxp_us@...

Guest guest
Hi there! Well, I actually was having some great luck the first month of my pregnancy. Basically, I decided that there was a BIG problem that wasn't going away on it's own. So, I contacted a good friend who is a colon hydrotherapist and asked her for advice. She suggested the following: eliminate gluten, dairy (except goat milk/cheese/yogurt), sugar (including most fruits except apples and pears), and red meat. I made a flax seed tea that I tried to drink daily.. Flax seed tea: Boil six cups of distilled water. Remove from burner. Add 3 tablespoons of flax seeds and let sit for 6-8 hours. It extracts the oil. Pour it into a glass and enjoy the next day. It doesn't keep, so throw any out that you don't finish at the end of that day. If you pour the whole thing into a large travel cup/water bottle, you can let the flax seeds float to the bottom; they will stay there when you drink the " tea " . I also take a product which I heartily recommend. It's called puracleanse and cleanse caps through a company called Miracles of Health. http://www.miraclesofhealth.net/ It's out of Fort , CO and an amazing product. I take a tblsp of fiber (Puracleanse) at night and in the morning. It's finely ground and I don't get painful gas and distention like I do from metamucile and pharmacy products. I started out taking one cleanse cap in the morning and one at night. I also was drinking lots of green drink - juicing that I did myself in the juicer and I bought a vitamix at www.vitamix.com (if you can afford it - get one of these!) and started making fruit/veggie smoothies and adding 1-2 tblsps of ground (raw) almonds, (raw) pumpkin seeds, (raw) sunflower seeds. I grind the almonds & seeds in the vitamix dry blender and then further blend them in a coffee grinder. I store what's remaining, and then I add one-two tablespoons of that to any smoothie I make..along with ground flax seed. But flax seed has to be ground each time I want to use it, since it begins to expire as soon as it's ground. Flax seed is most effective when you buy it whole and grind it yourself in a coffee grinder. I was also adding hemp protein (very high in fiber..like 11 grams per serving) but it turns out I am highly intolerant to hemp. Makes me very ill - throwing up and stuff. I also took a tablespoon of emulsified fish oil every morning. And then I started to see some results. And by results I mean that in one month, I went two days without feeling like I had to do an enema. And the enemas were actually productive. (I generally have to do two enemas a day and often, not enough matter has made it to the exit point for it to be effective, but it doesn't mean I am in any less pain, of course.) During that month, life was good. Of course, the day I started this was also the day I conceived my second child. So, it was at the end of this month that I developed nausea and couldn't keep up. I am just now getting back in the swing.. I also started doing weekly colonics. And the colonics were very productive during this time. Colonics are believed to massage the colon walls and increase muscle tone which gets very bad when the bowels never move. I also did acupuncture during that time and a meditation made just for me by a friend who works with client to create individually designed meditations..www.meditationmindset.com. Well, when the nausea started, I ate gluten again and even the colonics didn't work! We would put water in for a full hour and absolutely nothing but water came out. It was horrifying. I knew then that there was a big problem with gluten and there was no way to turn this train around. I am also planning to do a parasite cleanse under the guidance of my friend who is the colon hydrotherapist after baby is born and breastfeeding is over. It's important to follow the diet I mentioned above when doing a parasite cleanse. Some people think parasites are hogwash and maybe so..but I don't feel like I have the luxury of ruling anything out. This problem will kill me - and sooner rather than later. The miracles of health company sells a parasite cleanse that my friend has seen great results from. She sees a difference in people after they have done the parasite cleanse. Do I think it's going to change everything? No way, but I feel like I have give it a shot. And colonics are really useful when doing a parasite cleanse. So, I found that just trying to remain gluten free wasn't working. I knew I was eating at restaurants who didn't know if what I was ordering contained it. It was too easy to go ahead and eat fries cooked in the same grease as something with wheat. And other grains seem to pose a problem as well, so I decided to give it all up. All dairy (even goat) and grains and go as natural as possible. That is new - I am just doing that this week. And like I said, where I am in this pregnancy..eating that way simply helps the enemas be productive and even then..it is no guarantee. I ate nothing but greens, juices, avacados, and nuts yesterday and today nothin is happening..not even with the cleanse caps (three of them!) I took last night. If this diet fails to produce results in the next year, I will consider a full removal and colostomy bag. I have truly had enough of living like this. But, like I said, I was having great results following the diet I mentioned above.. Unfortunately, there seems to be NO magic " bullet " when total constipation is your affliction. It's a wholistic, entire-person deal. And it is absolutely the most important bodily function we can have. Unfortunately most western med doctors do NOT recognize this. Storing this level of toxins is a really really bad thing..For people who have otherwise working bowels (and by that I mean, can have a bowel movement on their own at some point..even if it's just a couple of times a week w/o intervention) can respond to just increasing exercise, fiber, etc. Wow! that turned out to be a book! Oh - another thing - water..I found I needed to increase water - while doing all of that other stuff - far, far higher than the recommended daily allowance. To 1-1.5 liters 3-4 times a day...about 30 minutes before meals. Absolutely none of that stuff by itself did anything. I had to put it all together without fail to start to see things moving. > Hey everybody! I have been a constipation sufferer for most of my > life, but my bowels became paralyzed around 21 years old. Guest guest
Thought I would (belatedly) throw my experience in here too. Constipation had been a persistent and ongoing problem for me. I thought that going gluten free once I was diagnosed would make me more "normal" again. I had also tested positive for casein intolerance with Enterolabs - and wanted to ignore it since gluten free was enough for me, I didn't want to deal with it. The constipation was totally, finally, miraculously gone once I bit the bullet and removed casein from my diet. And those pesky sinus headaches disappeared too. So it's something you might want to consider. Remove the dairy from your diet as a test and perhaps you will have some relief too. Good luck!! Dara in Massachusetts Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
I am the same way. I have to avoid ALL cross-contamination, or everything stops again.Magnesium helps. I've taken about 1,000 mg at a time, but start with less than that just in case. Also, I find I just cannot take calcium supplements.Of course, in terms of food to help you along. Try to avoid white grains, bananas and too much processed food. Sweet potatoes are good for this issue, and a couple other things I forget because I've too tired. If you are stopped up for a very long time you might consider an enema or even a colonic. Because once everything gets stopped up for me, it's very difficult to get it going again without a fresh start.I also personally found ago that I cannot tolerate caesin.Best of luck,Ciara Talk is cheap.
