Carolyn,

If I were you, I would make all requests for medical records in writing and

carbon copy to chief of staffs and hospital administrators. If you need help,

let us know and I am sure a few of us in the group would be more than happy to

help you. It sounds as though your doctors have very little respect for your

knowledge and rights. You and your son have rights!

I know it can be very difficult for you to take all this on yourself. I would

also recomend you request a patient advocate to be present with you during all

hospital staff correspondence. You need hands on support to get what you and

your son need.

Since your drs know so little about the diet I would really question

what they mean exactly when they say iel is having a problem with

acidosis. They might be right but since the diet tends to make you a bit

acidic and that is considered normal for the diet they may be

misinterpreting the bloodwork. Is there any way you can get an actual

copy of the blood gasses and post the numbers here?
