Guest guest
Hi everyone - just wanted to share that we now have two black belts in the family! Sam tested for his black belt - recommended on Friday night. It's a grueling test and it's long (1-1/2 hours). You basically have to remember everything you've done since you started taekwondo. Sam is now 11 and started when he was six! He did a beautiful job - I'm so very proud of him. And the very coolest thing? The fourth degree black belt who tested him is deaf! Tom tested for his black belt - decided. That test is much easier (the harder by far is the first test - Tom did that one in March). Tom also did a great job. Since Tom got his black belt - recommended in March when he was 13, now that he's 14 he's considered a full fledged black belt so his belt is completely black with his name embroidered. When you're under 14, you're considered a poome (sort of a junior black belt - although you take the same test as an adult). So the belt is a black stripe and a redstripe. I'm so proud of them both - they've worked so hard. They're having fun teaching other, younger kids and now working on the second degree black belt! And I feel well protected... I'll try and post some pictures of them. Barbara :-)

Guest guest
Thanks, Kris - go Ethan! Sam started TKD when he was six (in first grade); Tom was in second grade. It's amazing to me how they've persevered with it. It's been such a great program for them both. Guest guest
How cool!! You must be SO proud. My oldest is a 2nd yellow belt. He is going to start sparring in September!! I don't know how you survived! Congratulations to both boys! That is such a great achievement. Tawnya Sam and Tom Hi everyone - just wanted to share that we now have two black belts in the family! Guest guest
My congratulations to both boys. That is a huge accomplishment and committment. Clearly they can do anything, when they set their minds to it. Can't wait to see the pictures! My will love them, as he studied martial arts for 4 years, but finally had to quit when the sparring became a bit too fierce. (he has lvas and can lose additional hearing with certain minor head injuries, so Mom pulled the plug) He still misses it!

Guest guest
thanks Jill - I thought the best was when an older kid came up to Tom and said to him " Do you really have a black belt? " Tom said yes and the kid said to him " I have someone I'd like you to take care of for me! " I guess it's the Hanover version of the Sopranos?! If I can help with your hard drive, just hollar off list! JillcWood@... wrote: > Congratulations ... you are certainly the best protected mom in the > northeast. Guest guest
That's so cool! Debbie Some men see things as they are and ask why. Others dream things that never were and ask why not.
