Guest guest
Related to Rosemary's post about the funny things kids say about cf. We have a few cute stories from the past few weeks. All the little neighbor kids have been praying for our little Tristan since we found out about his cf and one of the parents was asking me a lot of questions to help explain to her 7-year-old son, so I loaned her the books " Mallory's Sixty-Five Roses " and " Go Lungs Go " . Bless his heart, the little boy brought them back a few days later and told me thank you and told me about how he was really glad to get to understand what Tristan has. I just thought how impressive for a 7-year-old to be so concerned about his neighbor and to take such a genuine interest in learning more about cf! Also this was somewhat humorous but also made me a little sad -- The other day I was giving Tristan his meds and my four-year-old suddenly broke out in his best whining voice -- " Why can't I have cytic fibrosis? It's no fair! " If only he knew. Someday he will be so thankful that he doesn't have it, but right now in his 4-year-old mind all he knows is that his little brother suddenly gets a lot of extra attention. We do our best to balance it out, but there are some times with treatments and all that it probably doesn't seem fair to him. Last cute story -- our little neighbor girl that I care for two days a week (she is 3 1/2) and my 4 year old play house and with their dolls all the time and when they are pretending to feed them, they always give them their enzymes first (: Also, Skyler found our little small percussors that we don't use anymore and he uses those to give his dolls treatments. He even gets them propped up on the pillows in the right positions and everything. His little brother, Tristan (the one with cf) got a baby doll for Christmas and now he is joining in! (: It is actually probably somewhat therapeutic for him to act out in play. Sorry this is so long, just wanted to share those cute stories! Take care and Happy New Year, Amy (mom to Tristan almost 20months w/cf, Skyler 4 w/ocf and Cary 15years w/ocf)
