Guest guest
very very quick update. Geez, we thought we had a good record going, being able to count on only one hand the number of ER visits we have had ever, and with 7 kids, that is pretty good. Course, last week 's port failing and we ended up in the ER so that radiology could do a port study put us into the second hand..... if that is not enough, tonight, Mallory ripped her ear. I was on way home from work and Ron called and said she needed stitches...she ran into the van door at full speed at the same time as someone opened it. We don't just run to the ER for every little thing, so I figured if he thought she needed to go, she must. went home and I could see cartilage, so I figured that was bad, plus wasn't sure how bad it was that blood was running into her ear (she has PE tubes). Anyway, ron stayed with the kids so I was alone so of course, what does Mallory do where I cannot reach her in the car (sh e is in back seat) she pukes the whole way to the hospital, all over herself, so we arrive at the ER covered in puke and blood. The people in the injured child area were not amused at all that I had the gall to be in there with a child who had puke all over her. Hey, she was injured afterall, does not have a virus, etc....and she certainly does NOT need to be around all those sick babies (ER was full of them! I kept saying to the nurses....rsv, keep it away...) Anyway, so the puking makes suspect head injury, so we end up having to have a head CT. And did you all realize they can't use that cool gel that works really really great to numb the skin if cartilage is involved???!!!! well,t hey can't, and really did not have an effective way to numb the skin (b/c where the injury was, there is very little skin) so she ends up with stitches without being numbed. so much for all our hard work to keep her from not trusting docs......grrrrrr. then we irritate home health, b/c this totally screws up her tobra levels. running the tobra now, which means that the next levels will have to be drawn in the middle of the night unless they can get the doc to wait til monday. have I told you all that the holidays have a way of sucking for us? or bringing bad luck? Hope all is well with all of you. Take care, Jen

Guest guest
Rosemary, Do you live in Buffalo? If so, I feel for you. Did you hear about the 3 major pile ups in P.A.? There were a few snow squalls that came through and when they did the snow froze to the ground and the roads became a sheet of ice in just minutes. So far 6 people have died. The one crash involved over 70 cars, trucks, and big rigs. That must have been scary to go through. The other pile ups ranged from 35-50 vehicles. To top it all off, on a road they were detouring other cars another accident happened. Good luck to all of you out there. Sounds like Sydney is going through what Florida went through. in P.A.
