Can anyone suggest an equally as good site as ours, for adults with cf? My

sister is really having some hard times, in many ways, not only health, and

I think she could really benefit from a group like ours, but more specific

to her age group, and her needs.

DHA is (D)OCOSA(H)EXAENOIC (A)CID. This is an Omega 3 essential fatty

acid

People with CF have a DHA deficiency and evidence shows that CF carriers

also

have a deficiency of DHA.

Many people today eat a diet that is too high in Omega 6 or 9, which

further

creates a DHA deficiency and contributes to inflammation and

inflammatory-type health problems and diseases such as:

depression, heart disease, asthma, diabetes,

chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lupus,

attention deficit disorder, rheumatoid arthritis,

osteo arthritis, Tourettes, Crohn's, ulcerative colitis,

psoriasis, obesity, etc.

You can learn more about the importance of DHA by searching the web. You

might start with Martek's website at www.martekbio.com

Also, the following books provide excellent easy-to-understand information

(and food choices and recipes). You can get them through Amazon.com

" The Omega Diet--The Lifesaving Nutritional Program Based on the Island of

Crete " by Artemis P. Simopoulos, M.D., and

" 8 Weeks to Optimum Health " by Weil, M.D.
