Hi Everyone,

My 9 yr old son and I have a question regarding Tobi,

which is the best nebulizer cup to do the tobi in? He's using a blue cup (we

dont know the brand name) and the tobi treatment is taking at least 30

minutes, school mornings are getting tough! thanks,

Carol Mc - mom to Tina 16 1/2 and Bobby 9 yrs old

both w/cf

We use the pari LC Plus. It is blue too. Used with a PARI compressor it takes

about 10-15mins. but don't use the pare LC Star yet. One of the PARI reps told

me there's not enough studies to show it works well with TOBI (star is the red

one)

Hope this helps

We use pari - but it too takes 30 minutes.....yes it SUCKS...I am looking

into a new compressor some one hear mentioned one the could be more powerful.

Which compressor to youhave?

Rosemary in New York with three children with CF - they are 11, 9, 5.......

I coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT "

Depending on what medicines you use depends on compressors that are safe.

For instance, If you use a powerful compressor it could break the medicine

down so it won't be as effective or is too powerful. Our Dr. won't prescribe

an ultra sonic compressor because it's not safe with certain medicines.

HI, unless your doc tells you to use a sidestream (most don't, but

some are starting to recommend it lately), then the best (and the

one they tested tobi and pulmozyme on) is the LC plus

nebulizers made by pari. they are dishwashable and last up to a

year. It is not good to use the pari star, however, for tobi b/c it

makes a finer mist and there is concern about higher

bloodstream concentrations because of the finer mist (but I think

that is mostly a concern when kids are on inhaled tobi and iv

tobra at the same time. I know when it happens the kids are on

tobi and inhaled tobi just by default of what month it is, then they

do check blood levels more often)

Take care,

Jen
