Guest guest
Does anyone make their own GF pasta? Does it come out well or does it tend to fall apart? I am thinking about getting the pasta attachments for my big Kitchen Aid mixer but I don't want to invest the money if GF pasta is going to be a real chore to make. I'm just now getting the hang of making GF pizza dough and all that good stuff. Also does anyone know of a good pre-packaged pasta that isn't made with rice flour? We bought some Quinoa pasta and everyone liked it except hubby and he is the Celiac (arg!). He has always had a thing for white bread, sticky pasta, and most anything that doesn't have a " whole grain " texture. Kris
Guest guest
don't know about making your own, but i have found that the tinkayada brand of spaghetti and fettucini are most like non-gf pasta.... Guest guest
Can't answer the other questions, but am amazed at your willingness to make your own gf pasta! Keep us posted on your journey. Also, re the quinoa pasta. We love the quinoa pasta best. I wish it came in all the form factors. I can only find it in elbows. Would love lasagna noodles made of the quinoa, for instance. Or, most especially, gnocchi. Esther in Rhode Island > > Does anyone make their own GF pasta? ... Also does anyone know > of a good pre-packaged pasta that isn't made with rice flour? Guest guest
I have made my own pasta- generally using Bette Hagman's recipe for bean pasta, but any of hers work well. I also had a friend who randomly made me homemade lasagna using white rice and tapioca flour following a normal recipe. I find that homemade pasta is a fair amount of effort, but I will do it for the occasional homemade ravioli. Mmmm! You may find it cheaper to purchase a separate pasta roller from italy- i got one in japan imported from Italy for about $20. I know the kitchenaid extras can be pricey... For a white pasta, i like ener-g foods white rice spaghetti or macaroni.. Otherwise tinkyada or Trader Joe's Brown rice pasta is good. However if you really want to avoid rice, there is quinoa, corn, potato or even soy pasta available. I pretty much only like quinoa, besides rice.
