Guest guest
Okay, so without excess body fat on board, even after a period of cals being a tad high, then it looks like that is prob what happened yesterday - tolerated fasting for so long, which appears to have done the required job of getting rid of any stored glycogen from the higher cal level, then he switched back into using muscle tissue. Kiddies who have not had a prolonged period of catabolism wouldn't have had this happen as quickly from what I gather btw, it appears to be triggered a lot more quickly once it has already happened - like the susceptibility is a lot higher for quite some time. is looking to be a bit more 'straight forward' than was, because my little guy def did have excess body fat, just wouldn't bloody burn thru the stuff after having gone catabolic. I don't think I would try the fasting again then - you have prob got rid of any excess glycogen, now the aim would be to keep cals to demand as closely as you can from hereon in - lol - no swearing, I KNOW this is what you are trying to do already with v little help from the powers that be but you know what I mean.... That level of 1860 - is that what he was on when he started going catabolic?? You are thinking the shortfall was more because of the cal deficiency from not calculating the MCT correctly? It might be a bit risky cutting cals tooo fine right now in case he tips back into it again - and he also would now have a bigger body mass overall to work cals per kg on wouldn't he? What is the 'book' recommedation for his current age and weight? I know it isn't gonna be anywhere near 100% accurate, but just curious as to how far in or outsdide the range that would put him? Re the valium, yeah, the blood pressure etc is one to watch if having to repeat it - have to say that with , the stuff never used to touch that side of things with him, but mostly cos he was a benzo junkie from way back I guess Will watch out for updates - I'm to and fro the kitchen busily burning keto muffins has a birthday party to go to tomorrow so I am trying to make something edible that passes vaguely for cake. Not doing the almond flour ones, basic egg white and melted low carb choc with oil - er a sloppy burnt mess is the result of effort #1, trying again for better success with the second batch. I have 24 hrs to try and get it right.... ----- Original Message ----- From: ketomum68 Yes, I did start thinking that it had switched back again - I couldn't believe that the ketones had dropped and glucose had gone up that quickly. He was quite bright about 6pm too - actually got off the couch to come and find me - was very wobbly but at least he was up! He is definitely not overweight. is very solid, very strong and lean. He was 9lb 14oz when he was born and on the 97th percentile - always was up until the start of the diet - he is now on about the 60th for height and around 50th for weight. I was so pleased with the 5pm reading and I am thinking that he is switching back again in the evening - he definitely has not got a lot of spare flesh on him - he is not looking thin but there is no excess fat on him. Plan of action for tomorrow food wise is to put him on his original allocation of 1860 (before this crap hit the fan) but with LCT not the MCT oils (which were reducing his calories without me knowing anyway - great!) He is sleeping at the moment but after the last update I posted he had another seizure at 11.50pm and I gave another valium - it was a hell of a lot earlier than I would have liked to have given it but I could see the pattern beginning to form again and the first valium obviously didn't stop it. I am monitoring VERY closely now because he has had 20mg of rectal valium, his pulse rate, bloods, breathing etc. I hope this will give him a break for a few hours as I really don't want to give him any more if I can possibly help it, not for a good long while anyway. Thanks again - you are keeping me sane! When I get the first s Friends Keto Centre up and running, I will be putting a ree dx testing machine on the shopping list! Speak to you later (no doubt!!!!!) Lotsa love Emma. Mum to (who will please God get some uninterrupted sleep!)
