A vomitting question

It seems like vomitting is a popular subject on the board, but for awhile I

thought I was really lucky because my 10 month old daughter was doing great

on the diet and her reflux was actually improved (she started on June 22nd).

However, in the last week and a half, we've had problems with her vomitting,

sometimes 2 to 3 times in one day. She was also constipated, but we gave

her a suppository and she is doing better on that end. I thought that might

have been the cause, but she continues to vomit.

I also thought that we had gone up too high on her ratio and her ketones

might be too high. After having trouble initially we'd gone to a 3.5:1 ratio.

She still didn't have consistant ketones, though, until we dropped her

Depakote, and now I beleive the Depakote, not the original 3:1 ratio, was the

problem (her ketones ever since have been large). I took her back down to a

3.25:1 ratio Wednesday (and her ketones are still in the large range) but she

still is vomitting.

Has anyone experienced a good period of tolerance for the first month or so,

only to have problems later? Do you have any advice for what I can do?

Thanks!

My geuss would be that the problem comes from getting rid of the

depakote, you may have to lower the ratio now even more. Do this as a

test, give her a little bit of orange juice (without any sugar added),

just about 15 mls and see if that helps with the vomitting. If so, thats

probably your answer

Thanks, . I think you are right about the withdrawal of Depakote

allowing her to have higher ketones. We gave her orange juice last night,

and I think it helped, as she hasn't vomitted since then. It even helped her

to

have a stool, I think. Her ketones were still very large this morning so we

gave her a little more. I think her ratio does need to go back to a 3:1 (or at

least I hope that will help).
