Guest guest
Hi, I did the Atkins diet several months ago and lost 25 pounds. I stuck to it for a few months and then found out about the carb addicts diet, and switched to that for awhile. (That's the one that lets you have hour long reward meals.) I found that I don't gain weight on that diet but I don't lose either. So, I know I need to go back on Atkins, but every time I try I don't make it more than a day or two. I don't have a whole lot of time to cook all kinds of exotic foods. I am getting sick of eggs. I think if I have to look at another egg, I'll scream! I've been living on warmed up cream cheese, whatever meat I happen to make for the rest of my family, and an occasional Mcdonalds hamburger without a bun. Occasionally I'll force myself to eat a salad, but I don't really like salad so it's a chore. My husband was hungry for hamburger helper yesterday, so I made that for him yesterday, with a no-milk version for my milk- allergic boys, and just ate plain salted hamburger myself (how thrilling!) Any suggestions for me or am I a lost cause? Sheila
Guest guest
Are you eating ANY veggies? They are a MUST and that is where you should be getting almost all of your carbs from. If you post a few DETAILED menu's we can help you figure things out. Just be sure to tell us how much of EVERYTHING you put in your mouth... include tea, coffee, water, cream, splenda, equal, etc. Instead of saying eggs and bacon for breakfast say 4 strips of bacon and two eggs fried in the bacon grease, 1 8oz cup of coffee with 2 TBSP of heavy cream... (you get the picture- LOL) The more details the better we can help. --- sheran@... wrote: > Hi, > I did the Atkins diet several months ago and lost 25 pounds. Guest guest
You need to get some variety or you will cheat out of boredom. If you don't like salads, what cooked veggies do you like. Buy some that are in season and try some side dish recipes that work for you and your family. Prepare your meats for family in a variety of ways. For instance, with the ground beef you had, you could have done tacos w/fixins for the family [taco seasoned meat w/fixins over lettuce for you]; chili [chili spiced meat for you]; spaghetti [meatballs w/tomato sauce for you]; cheeseburger pie [posted on the list last week]. Even that burger you had could have been a bacon, mushroom, cheeseburger w/tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions. Yes, you have to eat it with a fork. Yes, it will still taste pretty good! Guest guest
Welcome Sheila! No you're not a lost cause. Since you don't like salads, you might find it helpful to do what I do. I get sick of eggs too, & even kinda tired of meat, so I eat as many low carb veggies as I can squeeze in. This really helps to break up the monotony on induction. Try them fried with butter & an occasional bit of cheese on top. You've really got to try to be creative on this WOE & try not to eat the same thing too much. I know it's hard sometimes though God bless, Jeanie <Hi, I did the Atkins diet several months ago and lost 25 pounds. Guest guest
Veggies are a must. Here are a few suggestions to help you eat more. Ragu makes several cheese sauces that are 3 gms per 1/4 cup, so you don't even have to make your own. Just take any low carb frozen veggie (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans), preapre per directions and pour cheese sauce on it. Buy cabbage and shred or buy the preshredded stuff in bags (coleslaw mix). Dump in boiling water with 1-2 T of cream OR 1 T caraway seed added, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Drain and serve with pasta sauce (Ragu Alfredo or LC spaghetti sauce). Take 4-6 oz precooked meat (frozen cooked chicken breasts work great here), 1 C frozen veggies and a handfull of cheese. Rinse the ice off the veggies and drain. Add veggies and meat and top with cheese. Microwave until heated through - 3-5 minutes if everything frozen. > Hi, > I did the Atkins diet several months ago and lost 25 pounds. Guest guest
Hey thanks for this idea! Sounds like a terrific sub for pasta. Now I can eat spag, etc with my husband while he has the real stuff <<<Buy cabbage and shred or buy the preshredded stuff in bags (coleslaw mix).
