Guest guest
Ok has a fever 99.1, he has had a cough on and off for about two weeks, nothing serious, it is just a dry hack, his ped said it probaly was his allergies so he prescribed claritin, well tonight he got the fever so I called the cf clinic and talked to his pulm, they are going to get the nebulizer through home care,so he could not do anything tonight for , what is this? does this mean that a nurse is going to come home with me and set it up? and show me how to do it? was just wondering? tomorrow the cf nurse is going to call me to get it , whatever that means. I am completely confused the dr, said it could be a respitory infection but is as hyper as before he isn't even acting sick, the dr wants to put him on albitural,(spelling?) twice a day with the mist, what do you all think? his cough does not sound wet and he only coughs maybe once a day not even alot, he is sneezing and does at times have a runny nose, I am worried,..........................Thanks mommy of w/cf and cf? being tested
Guest guest
Hi Sorry about it's a decision for you to make. My opinion I would try something else like meds or something for a few weeks then if it don't work then maybe I would contemplate it.I don't know, just thinking surgery and the risk just too much fo me.Anyway good luck and I'll hope everything goes find. Guest guest
Don't be too worried. The nebulizer is easy to use and doesn't take more than seven to ten minutes a time. On the fever thing, 's temperature is always about 99. hardly ever gone below that. I usually don't call unless his cough increases or he gives me his classic signs of sinus problems. I wouldn't worry, most kids with cf have the nebulizer. BTW FINALLY got his flu shot. He got it at four and it is now 5:30 and he is zonked. He goes to see his local ent on friday, who now suggests surgery. So that's two maybe three ents saying this. Guest guest
, Albuterol is pretty standard treatment for kids with CF. 's used it twice a day since diagnosis. It is just a bronchodilator, that is, it opens up the airways. We use it before chest PT to open the airways and make the hand PT more effective. > From: onespleasure@... > > Ok has a fever 99.1, he has had a cough on and off for about two > weeks, nothing serious, it is just a dry hack, his ped said it probaly was > his allergies so he prescribed claritin, well tonight he got the fever so I > called the cf clinic and talked to his pulm, they are going to get the > nebulizer through home care,so he could not do anything tonight for , > what is this? does this mean that a nurse is going to come home with me and > set it up? and show me how to do it? was just wondering? tomorrow the cf > nurse is going to call me to get it , whatever that means. Guest guest
I just wanted to reiterate. We do the exact same thing and have since diagnosis. As said, Albuterol is a standard treatment that most children with CF are started on immediately upon diagnosis. Our CF center did the same thing with us regarding home care and having someone come out and teach us. However, our pediatrician had to actually order the equipment and did know how to do the home care thing and had us pick it up at a pharmacy instead. The CF center seemed concerned that we needed to be taught what to do. We never have and I've seen other people do it at clinic and the hospital and we're doing it fine. Anyway, yes they will send someone from a home care company to your house to demonstrate how to use it. It's not a big deal. When they did this for Emma's feeding tube, they were in the house a total of about 15 minutes. - mother of Emma 16 months w/cf and Isabelle 3 years wo/cf and an angel this week On Tue, 13 Nov 2001 20:39:11 -0500 Ware mamabear@...> writes: > , > > Albuterol is pretty standard treatment for kids with CF. Guest guest
I know this is all new to yu, but we have done albuterol/saline treaments on since birth too. We do it one a day, preventative, and it's a breeze. I start it with his nap, he falls asleep, and then do CPT. I know that some kids need to cough, but we don't, so it's ok he's asleep. I do it everyday, so that when he is sick, it's not new to him and there are no fights about it. Let us know if you need help getting set up! I am starting TOBI tonight for the first time, so I can understand your nervousness!
