Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone knew of a gluten-free lactase supplement. I can’t tell if Lactaid is GF, but a store brand that has most of the same ingredients says it is not GF. I have an email out to Lactaid about whether they are GF or not, but have yet to hear back from them. Have looked up a bunch of lactase supplements on the internet and all that I find contain maltodextrin. If anyone knows of one, let me know. Thanks! Lori PS: This is a really great group! I’m glad I found you.
Guest guest
SOME Lactaid supplements are GF, some are not. For example, I have the Lactaid Ultra Caplets which are gluten-free per a phone call to the manufacturer (does not contain maltodextrin according to the box). These are 9000 FCC units, which I think are their strongest. I know at least 2 of the lower dose Lactaid supplements are NOT GF, but I don't remember which ones. Hope this is at least some help for you. Maureen > > I was wondering if anyone knew of a gluten-free lactase supplement. Guest guest
I believe all LactAid brand products from Glaxo (I think) are GF. I take them. For me, I have to watch out for the nutrasweet in some of them. I received a letter from the makers of LactAid (I think it's Glaxo, but I'm too tired to look it up) telling me that the tablets are gf. :-) Now that I'm looking it up, I see it's now a FAQ http://www.lactaid.com/products/index.jhtml?id=lactaid/products/dietsupfaq.inc#q\ 10 No gluten in LactAid brand supplements Esther in RI > > I was wondering if anyone knew of a gluten-free lactase supplement. Guest guest
My bad. LactAid products are from McNeil Nutrionals. I couldn't remember last night and was half-asleep when I typed. This is their FAQ answer about LactAid brand lactase enzyme pills http://www.lactaid.com/products/index.jhtml?id=lactaid/products/dietsupfaq.inc#q\ 10 LACTAID® Fast Act caplets and LACTAID® Original strength caplets are GF. > > > I believe all LactAid brand products from Glaxo (I think) are GF. > ========= > > Glaxo told me that all their meds are gf > > Shez >

In the past, I have spoken with the makers of the LactAid supplements more than a few times. I've heard some are GF, some aren't. NOW they may all be GF - but that is subject to change, so I personally will continue to read the label on every box of them I buy. Guest guest
I totally goofed last night. LactAid brand is not Glaxo. I was too tired and should have stilled my chatty fingers. > > > Just a note of caution... > > In the past, I have spoken with the makers of the LactAid supplements > more than a few times. Guest guest
Thank you, Esther and Maureen! Boy, I did some sloppy research: I missed that page at the Lactaid site. Thank you, Esther, for pointing that out!! It gave me the answer I need. Just a small clarification: Maureen is correct that some of the Lactaid products may not be GF. That page says that the Lactaid Fast Act and Lactaid Original Caplets are gluten free, but it does not say that the various chewable/flavored Lactaid tablets are GF, in case anyone else needs to know this info. Again, what an awesome group this is! Lori I believe all LactAid brand products from Glaxo (I think) are GF. I take them. For me, I have to watch out for the nutrasweet in some of them.
