Guest guest
, If I recall right you have tried giving Langan melatonin but stopped it due to not being sure if it was making matters worse or if something else was causing the problem (perhaps this was the digestive enzymes...can't remember). If this is the case, now that you know more of what is going on how about trying it again? If you do try it, I would not use the extended release. I don't think that Langan is producing adequate melatonin as the sun begins to go down. She needs this if she is going to go to sleep. She reminds me so much of what Shan use to be like. She would not fall asleep until around 11 at night. She would lay in bed for a couple hours kicking the wall and doing all kinds of things, up to the bathroom over and over. The melatonin has regulated her. She went off it for 3-6 months and did well but started to have sleeping problems again so we put her back on 1mg. We could skip giving it to her and she would still get tired and go to sleep. It may be well worth trying again especially if it proved to help Langan. Rhonda Once Langan fell asleep last night (and it is always a mess b/c she tries to stay awake and then screams at every tiny sound or movement until she is out) she slept better than she has in a while. She had a sz at 4:30am but went back to sleep after and was pretty peaceful before and after. She actually crashed until 10am! I guess after so long without good sleep, her body needed it. She is in fine spirits, now, though. Until bedtime.... Ugh...
Guest guest
, We tried a couple times giving the slow release and had the same problem, groggy in the morning. Try the non extended release. Rhonda Re: sleep issues/Rhonda Rhonda, Ahhh. Great minds think alike!! = ) I actually did give Langan melatonin on Saturday and Sunday night. Something had to give. She slept better but still woke up with szs. = ( But she wasn't as nuts as before so maybe it is helping. The problem is that both Sunday and today she is just wiped out- no energy. So I wonder if it is the melatonin. I did give the slow release- maybe that is the problem. Maybe it's too slow?? We are awaiting a call from the neuro- looks like we're going to be going the med route soon. We just can't take this many szs AND the diet. I don't have much hope for the meds helping but we have to try something and increasing the ratio is out of the question b/c of the acidosis. Ugh. Never dull! I hope Shan is doing well. We will continue to eat the yogurt (although maybe not from cream once we're off keto). Langan LOVES it! Thanks again for that tip!
