Guest guest
Yes and no. For a long time my son was seeing two different SLPs at the same clinic (we still occasionally do.) It worked well because one was mentoring the other so they used the same " game plan. " I think it could work if both agreed to communicate well. Guest guest
Hi Patty - As long as you're up front about it with all parties, I think it would be fine. Actually, the different approaches could really be helpful - our excellent therapist went on maternity leave and we got a new one for a while - my son made major leaps at that time. Also, same 1st fab therapist moved and my younger son who wasn't making great progress with her (despite her excellent progress with my older son) made up a year in 2 mos with the new therapist. The sticky wicket might be if they don't get along, or if you choose one over the other later and want 2x with her and not the first. Just never be afraid to choose the better person and speak up. You wouldn't stay with a doc you didn't like, right? Or a babysitter - this is no different. M > > Does anyone see more than one private SLP? I'm wondering if there > would be a conflict. Guest guest
Hi Patty, Aidan 17 mo gets ST/FT twice a week through EI, and ST privately once a week through our local children's hosp. There has been a wait at the hospital and he was having alot of trouble with food so I went to a private ST in another town for one hour weekly for feeding/ speech while we were on the wait list for the hospital. I like her alot so I've left it in place. So technically he does have two different ST aside from EI. Sometimes there is a little conflict, but I like getting a variety of ideas. The EI doesn't like to use signs and at first I didn't like that, but now I like that she focuses on the prompting and sounds while we do signs with the other ST. If I can add on a second session (waiting for an opening )-through the local children's hosptal I may drop the " extra " one , but right now it's not a problem. If they disagree on something (so far nothing major, just what signs to do or foods to introduce) I go with what I see works best, they're both pretty understanding that people have different approaches. hope this helps Carolyn, mom to aidan ,hyptonia , global dyspraxia, SID and just the cutest sweetest little boy -- In , " nicmat22003 " <prabito@...> wrote: > > Does anyone see more than one private SLP?
