PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

will be the focus of a six-part documentary series airing nationally on the

Discovery Health Channel on Sunday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 9. Filmed

at Children's Hospital last winter, the series, entitled " Inside Children's

science and clinical research at Children's Hospital are advancing care for

children living with chronic and life-threatening medical conditions.

Through the compelling stories of patients and families, each one-hour

episode explores Children's Hospital's cutting-edge research and treatment of

some of the most devastating illnesses facing children: congenital heart

disease, inflammatory bowel disease, cystic fibrosis, 22q11.2 deletion

syndrome, epilepsy, and hemophilia B. The episodes follow Children's

Hospital's world-renowned researchers, physicians, nurses and medical staff

through laboratory research and clinical trials, sophisticated surgery, and

outpatient clinic visits, while giving an intimate glimpse into the

experiences of families dealing with rigorous treatment schedules, emergency

visits to the hospital and life-changing decisions about their child's

medical care.

Highlights of the series include neurosurgery to remove a portion of a

child's brain, open-heart surgery on an infant to repair a life-threatening

Hi Danyelle,

We recently switched to CHOP from St. Chris. We are supposed to see

Doctor Panitch but so far we spend most of time with the

Gastroenterologist (Dr. Masceranhas) and the nutritionist ( Hanna).

We have only actually seen Dr. Panitch when Emma was hospitalized back in

July. Hopefully, we'll see him again soon because that would mean her GI

problems are under control.
