Guest guest
Has anyone noticed any loss of appetite? Our son has been on ProEFA since mid-August, on Vitamin E three weeks after we began the ProEFA, and just a week or so we increased the ProEFA to 2x a day, all given in the morning with breakfast. For the past couple of weeks or so he just eats so little--maybe a bowl of cereal for breakfast and maybe a sandwich later in the day. Of course, he always has room for cookies, which we don't give if he hasn't had a good meal first. He is 27 months old. Do these little guys just go through periods where they don't want to eat? He is on the thin side to start with and always has been. (He'll be thankful for that if the trend continues into adulthood, right???????) Could the fish oil be cutting his appetite? He takes it fine and in fact looks forward to his " lemonade " from a spoon. If anyone has any thoughts or experience with this I would truly appreciate your input. Guest guest
Hey Suzanne, I have definately noticed a loss of appetite each time I add a supplement or increase Jackie's dose. She is 3 and now on 2 Omega 3,6,9 + 1 EPA, + 1 Vitamin E 400IU with high gamma, 2 times per day. I started this very slow, and increased gradually. Each time I increased she has had a loss of appetite along with some behavior issues for a few weeks. Her appetite did return each time. And her behavior did return each time to her normal 3 year old behavior. I did not notice a loss of appetite or any behavior issues with the vitamin E, just the fish oils. Hope this helps...Lots of Luck... Trish > > Has anyone noticed any loss of appetite? Guest guest
You know, I've noticed the same thing in my son I do believe. I'm not sure if it's just coincidence (they all go through appetite slumps) or if it truly IS the ProEFA. I'm not sure how to tell w/out taking him off for awhile and then seeing what happens. I hate to do that but don't know what else to do.... Has anyone noticed any loss of appetite? Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, I " m not an expert, but my daughter does the same thing... seems to have a very low appetite sometimes for weeks (but a big one for cookies of course!) and then her appetite will suddenly rebound and she'll eat a ton. I have not noticed it correlated with the fish oil, rather it seems just another phase they go through at this age. I wouldn't worry about it unless your son was losing weight or seemed to have a reason for not eating (like gastrointestinal upset, etc.) If that's the case, I would have him looked at by his ped. > > Has anyone noticed any loss of appetite? Guest guest
Hi - same here. My son's appetite changes all the time. Some weeks he'll eat like a teenager and others he just eats cheerios. It's been like that for a couple of years now (he's 3 yrs, 3 mos) and we just started fish oil 2 weeks ago, so it has nothing to do with that. I was told by his pediatrician that kids take in the calories they need and their calorie demands change for growth spurts and where growth is at rest. It doesn't diminish his desire for cookies, cake, etc, either. He always has room for that. For us, it's just a kid thing, but like another post said, if you see weight loss or other signs of gastrointestinal distress I wouldn't dismiss it. > > > > Has anyone noticed any loss of appetite?
