Well we made it through Pirate Week at camp and I'm glad I had already planned

to have out of camp for the holiday week. It's good timing because he's

been acting like a nut lately. there's a spike in his impulsive behavior and

I'm getting really irritated with the nonsense sounds and loud shouting

constantly. I'm sure it can be attributed to the change of routine and

exhaustion. He thrives on structured routine and now that school is out and

he's dealing with a new routine that changes weekly he's probably all whacked

out. He's exhausted in the middle of the day but will not allow himself to

sleep as much as he needs it.

As I left the camp yesterday the director stopped me to ask me to have a talk

with about personal space. Apparently it's gotten back to the director

that he's been hitting and poking. Doesn't surprise me. I was hoping some day

he would control his behavior when he realized other kids didn't want to be

around him but that doesn't seem to phase him. I think he's oblivious to how it

effects his peers and he just doesn't get it.

He did pick up some new terms this week that showed me he was at least hearing

things on his field trip. He was very pleased to tell us all, " They said poop

deck, " and proceeded to repeat this all day and at the dinner table mostly to

annoy his little brother who's been telling us for the past two weeks that

" you're not supposed to say poopy. "

asked me " What is shivering timbers? "

And today I told him not to forget his pirate booty in the van and he advised

me, " That's not booty. This is my booty, " and he bent over and pointed to his

behind.

thing!
