I look forward to hearing more from you and your progress. Pat 204/201.5/199/164 > Hello my name is from California. I started WW plan in September and have lost 10 pounds since then still have about 50 more pounds left to lose. Guest guest
Thank you Pat for writing back... you are the first person who has introduced yourself. Congrats on your years of marriage! Wow! I don't see this often. What diet/plan are you doing? How long have you been in the group? Are there schedule activities each day or is it just somewhat a forum... you write in and share your progress? Thanks, Pat russpat22@...> wrote:Welcome . You've come to the right place. Guest guest
, Yeah, would you believe, my husband and I were high school sweethearts? We married at 18 and he is absolutely my very best friend. Basically, I'm just trying to control portions and eat healthy. I'm exercising on a treadmill and stationary bike six days a week for at least an hour. I've just added a Pilates machine for strength training, but I only do it three times a week. I started losing weight after joining TOPS the end of May and so far have lost 23.5 lbs. We (TOPS) meet on Wednesdays to weigh in so that's the day I post my weight here. Posting your weight is not mandatory here, but for me it helps to see it in print and it also feels good to see the number go down. You can pick any day as your " official " weigh in day, tho I think most of the ladies here use Monday or Friday for their weigh ins. I joined the group here the first of September because I thought I needed a boost to my motivation and it really has helped being a part of this discussion board. I've certainly had bad days and good days and the terrific thing is that you can come here and share and no body criticizes. What you get here isn't recriminations, but encouragement and understanding. Also, there are lots of people here with suggestions and comments on what is working or not working for them. And as far as the any kind of set schedule, it's pretty much free form. LOL!! We mostly discuss the challenges of and victories over losing weight but it's not confined to that. We also discuss things that are going on in our lives because ultimately, that does affect our progress. Again, welcome, and just feel free to jump in with both feet. Guest guest
Thank you for the warm welcome Leanne... I have been here a week and I really like it hear. Lots of encouragement and support, but the most I like about the group is that everyone is friendly! I really don't have a lot of support outside from the groups so I really appreciate that everyone has welcomed me! Today I blew my plan went to the movies and out to dinner today and never really had time to plan what I was going to eat. This has been the case for about four weeks now. My boyfriend and I often enough go out to eat and that really blows my plan/diet. During the week I have this schedule I follow, however, when the weekend comes around it is all over. I don't like to stay home very much due to a lot of tension in the house. I have my parents staying with me and now my brother has moved in as well along with my boyfriend and his kids. I don't know what I was thinking. Very frustrated with myself for allowing my parents to be with me for now about a year! I am counting the days until they will be able to get back on there feet. There poor decisions is a result of them moving in with me. Sorry about rambling on! Just started off as a bad day but the kids and I decided that we would make the day for us! We went to the movies and to dinner and we stopped at Wal-Mart and I bought the DVD " Walk Away The Pounds " the 4 mile one. Plan to start that tomorrow before doing laundry. Hope you had a great day! Leanne Lacey laceylearules@...> wrote: Hello , sorry this is late but I have been busy doing assignments for school. Welcome to the group, they are a great bunch. Guest guest
Hi , just had a chance to check my e-mails before I go off to school and seen your e-mail. Going out to eat can always be a problem. If you know you are going out for your evening meal try to eat less points during the day. Now that your weather is cooling down you can eat points free soups etc. Don't worry if you fall off track, just pick yourself up and go forward, don't look back. If you look back it will play with your mind. One very important thing I have found on this journey is that you have to track. When I don'r track I usually gain, it's easy to go off track if you aren't tracking. Now that I have said all this I should practise what I preach!!!!! Sorry to hear you are having problems with your parents but don't let it get you down. (I know .........easy to say .) Take care and have a great day or night(depending on where you are in the world).....Leanne Wetzel christinewetzel@...> wrote:Thank you for the warm welcome Leanne... Guest guest
Holy craptacular! If I were you, I'd just run away, lol. That's a lot of people living with you, and I can see how you'd be stressed! I, too, eat out a lot, and what I recommend is coming up with a list of what I call " safe " restaurants - aka, ones where I can order healthy items without feeling deprived when I look at anybody else's plate. For instance, I have Bennigan's on my list, as they have a bamboo chicken and shrimp that's scrumptious, plus I can get the Turkey O'Toole with fat-free honey mustard on the side, broccoli instead of fries (yeah, it sounds awful, but dipping the broccoli into the FF honey mustard makes it quite delicious!!), or even their grilled seafood platter (grilled salmon, grilled shrimp, and 2 small crab cakes) with broccoli instead of cole slaw. (you'd suspect me to be a big broccoli fan, but it's not even in my top 10 veggies). The trick isn't to just know where you *can* get healthier choices, because unless you're like a superhuman friend of mine, going to a Mexican restaurant and ordering just tortilla soup with no tortillas, no chicken is NOT realistic. (she also suggested at a Chinese restaurant, having plain steamed veggies with plain steamed brown rice) (I had to kill her) (lol) It's important to find places where the healthy items are satisfying, particularly if no one else is worried about fat, etc. =+) Catalina Hello my name is from California. Guest guest
Welcome ! Sorry this is late. I'm always behind but I do reply eventually. :-) I'm Gena, 38, married 20 yrs with 2 girls, 19 and 13. At my heaviest I was 284. I am about 215 right now. I'm not weighing myself much lately. Just focusing on doing the right things, trying to anyway. The keys are learning a new lifestyle, eating healthier and moving more. I suggest reading lots of old posts. There is great info here. I hope to hear more from you! Guest guest
Reading this thread makes me smile. Not because we had this problem when Ian was little -- we didn't learn of his hearing loss until he was 7. I'm smiling, because now that I've been on this list for a while, I have seen this same topic discussed many times by new parents. Now, don't think I'm trying to make the thread die -- I'm not! I'm smiling because, today, this particular thread reinforced that as far apart as we are geographically, we really are all going through similar things and we're not nearly as alone as we often feel. Best -- Jill (who thinks the Hannah hats are really cute.)
Guest guest
We had the same problem with our daughter when she began wearing hearing aids at four months. We used toupe tape and had her wear Hannah Andersson pilots caps. They are thin enough to hear through and after a few months she was used to her aids and stopped pulling them out. The hats are adorable too. Mom to Kendall 20 months (bi-lateral SNHL) --- kdbuggsmom25 CKdbugg@...> wrote: > I really hope I am doing this right I am new at > this. Guest guest
Jill - I too didn't find out about 's hearing loss until she was around Ian's age; she was 8. What, if anything, have you done with him as far as speech therapy, signing, etc. I'm completely in the dark about this all. My audiologist just basically fitted her and said off you go. I don't know what to do next. Diane Re: My intro > Reading this thread makes me smile. Guest guest
It is so nice to know that we are not alone. My son, is 6 months and has his aids for 2 months. He just found his aids the are always in his mouth. He chews on the earmolds and sucks on the aid itself. As soon as you put one back in, he has the other one out. The worst is when I am driving and I hear the whistling in the backseat. Marni mom to 2 - hearing 6 months - mod/sev --- Sara Chaddock saraandchadd@...> wrote: > UGH - I'm so glad you posted this! Guest guest
Holly had hearing aids for only 3 months, (13-16 months) but she did the same thing about pulling them out! It's was driving me crazy too! I went and bought a bonnet that seemed to help a little. She tried to pull the bonnet off too, but then I would get her interested in some toy and she would forget about it. Since he's a boy maybe just do it at home and take it off before your husband comes home! (Ha! Ha!) Sara Chaddock saraandchadd@...> wrote: UGH - I'm so glad you posted this!
