Coco Puffs and Coco Pebbles and Neopets Island Berry Crunch if you can still get it. Other members have found Dora the Explorer cereal, but it must not be available here in Texas. I eat Nature's Path Mesa Sunrise and Corn Flakes. These are sold at whole foods type places. wrote: Can I please get some suggestions on GF breakfast cereals? Utoh...I remember when Kashi Cranberry.....was able to be found at Big Lots, it meant it was being discontinued and that is why it was at Big Lots. I never did see it on a regular store shelf, ANYWHERE after that...waaaaah!

Big lots carries Neo Pets, which is very much like Trix. Enviro Kids can be found at Kroger, they have peanut puffs, something like Captain Crunch, and I've forgotten what else. Fruity Dino bites, but not the Cocoa Dino bites. Best I can remember off-hand,

Good luck! I never used to allow sweet cereals in my home until my dd was

diagnosed last summer. It seems most GF cereals are coated with sugar, and also

cost an arm and a leg. I do not allow anyone else to eat dd's cereals, but now

since she gets sweet cereal I have allowed them to have the occasional Kix and

Honey Nut Cheerios. My dd likes the EnviroKids cereals (make sure you get the

GF ones, they aren't all GF), which aren't TOO expensive (but a small box), and

also Puffins (from Whole Foods). We tried all the Perkios flavors (VERY

expensive), which I thought were okay. My dd hates them all, but will eat the

apple and frosted ones dry as a snack. If cold cereal wasn't so convenient and

quick I'd just ban it from my home completely.

General Mills-Cocoa Puffs, Neopets Islandberry Crunch, Trix, Dora

Cinnamon Stars (check Cocoa Puffs and Trix labels- they have not always

been gluten free so some boxes may still have wheat starch in them.

Envirokids- Honey Rice Puffins, Gorilla Munch, Amazon Flakes, some

others

Can't think of the others off hand.

Barbara's Bakery - Honey Rice Puffins

Health Valley - Rice Crunchems, Corn Crunchems

Nature's Path - Mesa Sunrise, _______ Corn Flakes

Erewhon - some of the Crispy Rice w/ and w/o dried fruit (not all varietys are

labeled GF, so check the box front)

I don't think any of these have sugar coatings but I suspect that most have got

sweetener of some kind added. Whole Foods usually has a very good selection,

but it is not going to be priced like one of the Big Box stores.

Trader Joe's has Enviro Kids cereals - 3 varieties. I

like the Gorilla Munch myself. They also have Panda

Something and one more.

Arrowhead Mills makes something called Maple Buckwheat

Flakes, very good. I buy them in a health food store.

Buckwheat is not related to wheat, it is safe for

celiacs, unless you have another food intolerance. It

is in the same family as Rhubarb.

Enjoy!

Question on this - I have been told by the customer service people at Arrowhead

Mills that they can't assure us that any of their products are gluten free, due

to cross-contamination questions. (They process gluten-containing products on

the same line as products that wouldn't contain gluten; they clean the machines

between products but not at a level that they can call products " gluten free. " )

FWIW...

As some have noted, I was successful in finding both

the Neopets and the Dora cereal last night at the

Biglots store here in town! I was thankful to find it

there, as its hard to find in the normal grocery

store...and cheap too!

Here's my list (and I'm really liking this thread, an update to what I'd

known!):

Dora Cinnamon Stars (favorite for all atm)

Enjoy Life's Cinnamon Granola (also a favorite but expensive)

Honey Rice Puffins

Corn and Rice Crunch'ems

Mesa Sunrise

Gorilla Munch

Neopets (only one likes this, but not often)

Past choices but kids are sick of:

Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles

Panda Puffs

Cranberry Sunshine (was this discontinued? can't find anymore)

Safeway Golden Corn Nuggets (corn pops, was a def fave...is now NOT

gf...grrr!)

Hot cereal:

Cream of Buckwheat

Just remember that not all oats are GF due to contamination problems,

and while many celiacs can tolerate oats, not all can.

The only oats we eat are the McCann's.
