Guest guest
, I would ask my doctor. Maybe she needs more fiber and fluids. Hallie Constipation Help!!! Help, please from anyone. My daughter (6 years-38lbs) started on the diet on July 19th....she has not had a bowel movement naturally since....the doctor had her on Miralx 1 time a day....she started crying with her stomach so I was advised to give her Dulcolax oral and Dulcolax suppositorie....this did not work her either....the peditrician advised a Fleet enema on Wednesday, 7-22-04. Well, it took 2 enemas to move her..X-Rays were done and did not showed impaction but she is crying again (24 hours later)with her stomach. Does this pass with time or do I need to request some other treatment for constipation from her doctor? Any help would be greatly appreciated, -mother of

Guest guest
Adding magnesium (by way of calcium/magnesium supplement capsules in a 1:1 ratio) worked very quickly for us. is 7 yrs old and weighs a lot more than your daughter (about 58 lbs I think), but alternating between 4 and 5 capsules a day keeps him regular, (so 320 - 400 mgs per day) whereas before starting this, he used to always be severely constipated. It might take a while to find her ideal amount though, as a lot of different factors affect the bowel muscles - for instance when on high dose diazepam , (as it is a central nervous system depressant) needed at least 6 capsules per day to keep him even mildly regular. If you overshoot the mark dose wise, you can end up with diarreah at the other end of the scale. Plenty of water as well if possible. ----- Original Message ----- > Help, please from anyone. > > My daughter (6 years-38lbs) started on the diet on July 19th....she > has not had a bowel movement naturally since....the doctor had her on > Miralx 1 time a day....she started crying with her stomach so I was > advised to give her Dulcolax oral and Dulcolax suppositorie....this > did not work her either....the peditrician advised a Fleet enema on > Wednesday, 7-22-04. Guest guest
Try increasing her magnesium, dramatically if you have to. You will know you have went too high when you get diahrea. It seems to work for about 95% of the kids. And its great as a long term solution lisamarie2and3 wrote: > Help, please from anyone. Guest guest
Hi , we use Philips Milk of Magnesia for Kristan, she gets 5 ml in the morning everyday and she also gets MCT oil in her bottle/meals so both help her go, oh, and you also need to give them water too. Good luck. Guest guest
, Perhaps your daughter is not constipated. I thought my son was early in the diet, but xrays showed he wasn't. Miralax is a wonder drug, and a respected gastro-friend of mine believes strongly in it. What ratio is your daughter on? High ratios make reflux worse. Ever since we started using a relfux med (protonix, I think), his stomach pains and reflux has been minimal. Because of the limited bulk in their diets, there isn't a lot of stuff to come out, anyway. Another thing I do is give my son as much celery as his menus allow. Nice, cool and crisp, and lots of bulk. Good luck. Don't give up. There are lots of ups and downs to this diet. I sure hope it works for you. Guest guest
, My last message didin't make much sense. What I meant to say is that maybe your daughter's pains are due to reflux and not due to constipation. And maybe her lack of bowel movements are due to the low amount of bulk in the keto-diet in general. I hope this makes my last message a bit more clear. Guest guest
, We don't restrict water on Claire's diet and I find that additional water every day helps prevent the constipation. I also try to give her strawberries or blueberries for one of her fruit servings every day. The additional fiber seems to keep her regular. We also use both cream and grapeseeed oil as her primary fats. I find that if I rely too much on the cream she will get constipated. This could be due to a decrease in her water consumption since she drinks cream like milk or from the cream itself. Last but not least, a serving or two of fresh cherries always works. Please also look at previous posts about the importance of a daily dose of Magnesium and Vitamin C for bowel regularity. Even with all of this attention to her daily intake, Claire still gets constipated about once a month. Good luck. Lois Re: Constipation Help!!! , My last message didin't make much sense.
