Guest guest
Good to hear that it went okay, . Sorry that you had such a horrible time though, and that no one picked up on Kawasaki's any sooner to save and your family some unnecessary pain. Guest guest
It was a super long night. We arrived down in Westchester around 4:30. We were seen in the Er around 5:45. They are so full down there that at first we were in the hall way being seen. The doctor took his history and it presented just like Kawasaki's. She was baffled as to why the rash and swelling were not looked into Friday when this all started on Tuesday. I told her I just didn't have that answer. She started and Iv on and he was so good. He fought the first time which made the IV blow and he needed a second one. The second Iv was put in and by then was really tired. He was having major sensory overload and he found the one thing in the room that would give him some deep pressure, the bp cuff. He insisted on having it on his arm and having us blowing it up as high as it would go. Then down again. He really seemed to enjoy this, or it at least quited him down. We were then seen by the floor team, which was a diffrent doctor and a team of residents. They assessed him again and gave me the gameplan. IVIG therapy with large dose asprin and tylenol. He was also giving benadryl IV. We were transfered upstairs by 11pm. Around 12 the IVIG was started and tolerated it enough to continue on a fast infuse of 6 hours instead of 12. We were done around 6:45 this morning with that. and I sat in bed watching barney and disney channel for most of the morning. Then the pediatric cardiologist came in and did the echo and ekg. Both were normal. We were told if those were normal, we could go home. We were allowed to leave by noon. We now have to continue to the baby asprin therapy for a year. We go back to the cardiologist for a followup echo and ekg in 2 weeks then again every 3 months for the next year. Thanks everyone Love --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Is there any idea what his prognosis is? I have to admit, when I read your first post, I thought you were overreacting, knowing full well how bad an allergic reaction can look. I felt so bad when I heard the diagnosis. I so hope it all works out ok. I'm glad you followed your instincts. Sometimes that counts for everything. > It was a super long night. We arrived down in Westchester around 4:30.
