what have ya'll tried next? We have tried Carnaware but had negative

effects. I'm homeschooling my almost 9 yr old son and I'm able to

watch closely the effects of supplements.

Is there anything in the archives about what has been tried with older

children?

Thanks,

Diane,

My son takes Coromega (omega 3 only) and is currently on a maintenance

program with it - - - every 6 weeks we will supplement for the week 1x a day

one package of Coromega. He continually receives his Flintstone Complete

Daily Vitamin plus Kefir drink.

When he is 10 (August) I will have another workup (blood, stool) to see

where we are at. We are still fighting his tastes for a variety of foods

but at least he is willing to at least try something new each day.

Hi,

My son, , is 9yrs old and has dyspraxia. We haven't tried the EFA's

and/or EPA's, I didn't learn about them until after we started him on

medication. His school year has been going so good on the med I hated to change

and try the EFA's. I was thinking about trying them over the summer. Would

like to know what you supplement with and how it is going.

Thanks,

Sherry ('s mom)

Hi,

I have a 6 year old about to be 7 in July. I had him on 2 efa's and

1 epa daily. Then I started reading about doubling the dosage so we

started that. We noticed more sentences being said rather than

phrases. SOme things clearer others not. We take the capsules so

he takes them in the morning and at night. We have not noticed any

adverse side effects with this dosage. He has been on the efa's

since he was 4.

Hi Sherry,

We use 2 ProEFA's in a.m. and 1 Pro EFA in P.m. We started him around

5 yrs old. He has done very well.

When we had to evacuate for Hurricane Rita I had just placed an order

so needless to say we ran out. We were so busy after that, that I

didn't really realize he had regressed. But once back on his speech

became much clearer, fluent and his language was better along with

longer sentences. I also feel he is less frustrated while on the fish

oils.

I hope you give it a try.

Blessings,

Diane

Hey -

I have an older child with apraxia - he is 8 1/2 and in the 3rd

grade. We still have him on one PRO EFA in the morning. I take 2

PRO EFA so didn't see a need to give him an adult dosage. He has

done wonderful with the fish oil's!!

My son is 6; he has been on the efa's since he was 2 and 1/2. dosage

right now is 1 proepa and 2 proefas every morning. i might increase

that next year. He has been speaking in full sentences since we

started him on the proepa about a year and a half ago, but his

clarity and grammar are still quite poor.

Hi I have 8 year old twins, I give them one teaspoon of pro-efa. They are

talking fine, but the articulation in writing stories are very week and

sentence structure for past and present need help. Anything in the Grammar

subject

they need extra help in. Any one else has apraxic children needing help in

the Grammar subjects?

My son will be 8 in June and still takes 2 Pro-efa daily. I haven't

tried to knock it down to 1. He has been on it since he was 3. I

tried Pro-epa and saw negative effects. I also tried Carnaware for a

short time (1 bottle) and didn't really see anything amazing.

At 3 he had maybe 10 words (if that) mostly approximations. He was

just declassified and released from speech in school and will

probably be done with our private SLP by the end of the summer.

So for the parents of young ones, hang in there it does get better!

Hi,

I have a 9yr old son. He speaks fine, just occassionally needs help with long

words, but he is considered learning disabled in writing especially expressive

writing. Right now we work on having him write about things that he enjoys,

like our family dog. He would much rather write about factual things like a

trip or facts about an animal. But when you give him a topic like " what did the

mouse see when he looked at his mouse hole.... " he has a harder time. I do the

word web with him alot. Put the main topic in the center (body of the spider).

Then do one word legs of things we could create sentences out of. For the mouse

thing, we put mouse in the middle and then put cheese as a leg, cat as another

leg and so on. Then he can create his sentences easier.
