Guest guest
Natasha, As was mentioned, you should be able to calculate the applesauce into the diet. But, if you need to spare the carbs sometimes, peanut butter (I mixed it with butter and a little oil to thin it) works well. My Claire took hers this way for almost a year....she's swallowing the pills now..yippee!!..so I don't have to use up her precious little amounts of food on the med's anymore! ~Barbara natashagainford wrote: > Hi guys > ph is not on the diet yet but we've been practicing for a quite > few month with food( eating wipping cream, butter, drinking only > water ).At the moment I give him meds in apple sauce > (unsweetened),but I am not sure if this will be allowed on the > diet.He would not take meds in surringe with water,he will not take > them in wipping cream either. How do you give meds on the diet? Guest guest
yeppers, unsweetened apple sauce is allowed if calculated. It all dependson if you end up with a calculator to do your own meal plans or if they do them for you. Currently we have a meal planner so anything is allowed as long as it's calculated. I just have to make sure gets all the fat, carbs and protein he needs each meal. Some things work better than others. He may really want a cookie but I don't think he wants it soaked in butter which I'd have to do in order to give it to him... and even that might not be enough fat. ANyway, back on track... unsweetened applesauce is allowed in small ammounts. Either way, ask the dietitian if she will calculate a few meals for you with it and you can experiment from there. Depending on how high 's ketones are, he gets his meds with fruit, the occasional cheeseball or *drat* all by their lonesome. Not his favortie. Ally how do you give meds?
