Guest guest
Hi Yes I too have noticed some odd things happening to my son's (2yrs 10months) sleep. He has gone from a 3 hour afternoon sleep to none what-so-ever - a huge shock to my system!! He is also waking earlier and wanting to stay up later. By about 5.00pm each day he is bouncing off the walls and is obviously over tired but not interested in sleeping. We haven't increased his dosages but have just started him on the fish oils and E (2 weeks ago) - I hate to think what he'll be like when we do increase the dosages though. I have also put my 6 year old son on the same dosages and although he has no sleep issues (other than waking earlier than normal but that could be the weather), late in the afternoon he becomes very agressive (he actually punched me today),angry and emotional - he is definately not himself and I am hoping my gorgeous 6 year old will return very soon! I am hoping to see some spectacular results soon as well to make all these little problems seem insignificant. Regards - Katrina > > Has anyone noticed a correlation between higher doses of fish oil and difficulty sleeping? > > Since we went from 1 1/2 to 2 capsules of fish oil a day, one of my twins (2 yrs 4 months) has had a really hard time going to sleep for naps and at night. For example, he used to fall asleep pretty quickly at 8 pm -- the last 2 nights, he didn't fall asleep until 9:30. I'm wondering whether it's just developmental, or due to the fish oil. > > Thanks for any thoughts, > > > > --------------------------------- > Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
The fish oil can definitely interrupt sleep for some if given at night. It shouldn't have an impact from earlier doses, but you may want to try to give your dose ealier. If you are giving it in the AM, it shouldn't have an impact...especially on 2 capsules a day. (We are using 9 a day). But developmentally this is also a time when bedtime is not as easy as it used to be regardless of fish oil. > Has anyone noticed a correlation between higher doses of fish oil and difficulty sleeping? > > Since we went from 1 1/2 to 2 capsules of fish oil a day, one of my twins (2 yrs 4 months) has had a really hard time going to sleep for naps and at night. Guest guest
Yes, we certainly did have it affect sleep. Have you taken it yourself? I always tell folks to take it themselves and see how they feel. Even when I took it in the AM, I would have vivid technicolor dreams that made me feel like I hadn't really been sleeping. I know that ultimately it was a factor that affected my son's behaviour. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for their replies on this question. Luckily, the one who was having sleep problems is my son with a slight speech delay, but no apraxia (his twin is the dyspraxic one). The fish oil/vitamin E wasn't doing all that much for him anyway, and when I stopped it completely for a day, his sleep improved greatly. So I'm going to back him down to 1 fish oil, 1x/day. Thanks again! --------------------------------- Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Small Business.
