Guest guest
Hello everyone. I'm new to the group; I've been reading a lot of postings over the last several weeks, but this is my first posting. My 3 1/2 year old daughter a was just recently diagnosed with verbal apraxia. She is for the most part non-verbal, but while receptively she's lagging behind, she has made great stides in this area. My wife and I took it upon ourselves to do our own investigation as to why a wasn't speaking yet, as we were becoming fustrated and not getting the proper direction from her pediatrician or SLP. We came across the Late Talker book and it unleashed a multitude of information that allowed us to take a to the right doctors, ask the right questions, and present the facts. and Dr. Agin, if you read this, God bless you for writing this book; my wife and I had no idea what apraxia was before reading your book. You are both truly amazing people who have opened up and armed so many people with information regarding this heartbreaking disorder that afflicts our children. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now on to my question..... Based on the book, we started to give our daughter ProEFA. Not knowing how much to supplement her with, we followed the directions on the label. However to make sure she didn't have any side effects (such as loose stools) we decided to start her out on one capsule for a week. She handled it well and we added a second capsule in week two. Shortly after that I found this group and started to look through some of the postings and saw that some people gave two ProEFAs and one ProEPA and that they saw great results. So about a month after starting a on ProEFA we added one ProEPA (so she now gets two ProEFA and one ProEPA). My question is, am I uping the dosages to quickly? Should I have kept her on a lower dosage for longer and not have introduced the ProEPA? I know from my readings that it's difficult to actually give to much fish oil, but it seems that the ratio of EPA to DHA is important. Since we just started supplementing her I just want to make sure I'm not hindering her progress because the ratio of EPA to DHA is not correct. The reason I ask this is because I read 's posting from just the other day, May 31st(subject: ProEPA.) It would appear from the 's posting that where we stand right now (2 ProEFA and 1 ProEPA) after one month, should take close to a year to achieve. I appreciate your feedback and sorry if the information I'm asking is repetitive; there a lot of posting to read through :-) With Warm Regards, Joe Forgione
