Judy,

I would be happy to!!

Today we made the decision to move mom from the hospital to a skilled nursing

facility for a

few days and then to my home and bring in hospice. The best they will say is a

few months.

Treatment is no longer working (antibiotics and steroids) and the best we can do

is keep her

comfortable. I know I am taking on a lot but there is money to hire caregivers

as needed. My

mom is absolutely terrified of dying alone in a nursing home. I will not and

cannot do this

to her. She deserves to be somewhere cozy and comfortable with those who love

her around her.

My time on line will be limited, because what lies ahead is a journey I have

never taken and

I have no idea what it will be like. The warrior that I am is ready for the

journey. take

care,

Trish

Trish,

I am so sorry that things have progressed to this point with your Mom. As

one who has been there, I must tell you something. Cherish the things you

can do for her. Give her as much of your energy and love as you can. Take

care of yourself in the process and hire the help you need. This is an

emotionally and physically draining time for you but when your Mom is gone,

you will be thankful that you did all you could for her. You will be able

to do more if you pace yourself and take care of yourself. When you need a

break, we are all here for you but we understand that your time will be

limited. My thoughts are with you and with your Mom. This is a difficult

journey but one day you will be thankful that you were there.

Thanks a,

I tried to forward the needle post and it didn't go, so thanks for doing that!

I am grateful

that Mom is comming here. Our culture has such a negative view of death and

really poor

options as to how one chooses to die. We all deserve dignity and peace as we go

through the

process. I just hope I can give that to my mom. Thanks for your well wishes.

I will be thinking of you and your mom and keeping you both in my

prayers. I understand your mom's fear of dying alone. My grandmother

had the same fear. My parents were wonderful and had her move in with

them and they cared for her with the help of Hospice. Remember to still

take time for yourself.

Trish!

What you are doing for your mother is the most noble thing one can do for a

parent at this time in their lives. No doubt it will be a journey you'll

carry with you for the rest of your life, one that will make you a stronger,

more compassionate and better person (not that you aren't already for doing

this for your mother!!)

I'd do it in a heartbeat for my mom if she ever needed me in this way. It's

the least I could do for her after ALL she's done for me!! (my father, I'm

not so sure about!!)

Trish,

You are embarking on a difficult, yet sure to be rewarding, journey with

your mother. She is lucky to have a daughter who loves her so.

Peace, sweet warrior!
