Documentation to support services and the reason to set up a new meeting. Also, while you're waiting for that letter, you could try to find an advocate like Cheryl mentioned. I don't know of one down near you in Westchester but I'll send you a phone number for the one up here (off-list.) Maybe he can point you towards one who works in your area. -- Jill
Guest guest
Elias got a last minute appt at the audiologist for this morning. I had been concerned for the last couple of weeks because it seems to hurt him a lot when i put the hearing aids in, and also, I have noticed a big increase in the frequency of him saying " What-say? " when he has his hearing aids in. The audiologist did new ear molds, and then tested his hearing aids. She decided to reprogram them. I asked her to test his FM system, since we want to start using it. I am glad we did, because it didn't work! She tried lots of things, but decided that perhaps the microphone or the transmitter was bad. She sent it back to the manufacturer (Phonak). So I guess we won't be working with it this week as planned. She was also concerned that the school district isn't writing the FM system and the requirement to use visual cues into Elias's IEP. She said she would write a letter explaining the need, and that I should reconvene the meeting. Bonnie

Hi Bonnie, We had in 's IEP that the teacher " Use a recognized visual cue " as a way to get 's attention if she was not paying attention. About three months into school, I discovered that the teacher was not using a visual cue. I made her HI aware of it and she brought it to the teacher's attention. Now they use one.
