I didn't know they could see the nerves in CT Scans. I know that they have some kind of nerve conduction device they use to make sure they don't get close. I also trust this doctor. So, I guess I'll wait to hear next week what their audiologist says. She used to be 's private audiologist years ago before she took over the CI program at GBMC and I trust her implicitly too. , Ian had so many tests back then, that I am relying on this feeble brain of mine for which scan they did. I think it was an MRI or a CT scan, but I'm not sure. But I do remember that at one point the ophthalmologist told me that a series of scans was being used to map the facial nerves. Ian's tear ducts were not working, and based on the syndrome he has, it was possible that they would need to be re-created. I won't go into details, but the docs were prepared for anything from the simplest of needs to a full reconstruction. (Thankfully, it turned out to be one of the simpler surgical solutions.) So, ask about this. Ian's surgery was when he was in 4th grade, so that's 6 years ago. There may be even better ways to image that information now.
