Guest guest
I was wondering what the group thinks of the weight watchers program? I was looking at their website. I keep hearing peoiple say its like 5 dollars a meeting but its 12 a week here, thats almost 50 a month plus the only meeting in my town is for older folks so i would have to drive 20 miles round trip to go to one in Ft Myers. Is it really worth it? I was also looking at the online thing but thats even more expensive. And I would think that kind of defeats the purpose? Of the support thing an all. So anyone have a verdict? Guest guest
hi heather, I've been on weight watchers now for like 6 weeks now and i've had good results with it. i've lost 15 pounds so far. when i joined it was free registration, i don't know whats its like there now. but for the meetings its $10.95 per week here. but the way i look at it, if its working for me, then its worth paying all the money. but to be honest with u, i think knowing that i have to get weighed in every week and having to pay, is keeping me on my toes. I love the program though, as long as u stay in your point range, u are ok. plus u get like 35 extra points per week, which i use for only emergencies. LOL! > I was wondering what the group thinks of the weight watchers > program? I was looking at their website. Guest guest
I'm confused - the only meeting in your town is for older people?? They have an age limit?? I've never seen that, that doesn't seem fair! Ok, now, to answer your question, I love Weight Watchers. =+) However, the same things don't work for everyone. I need to " report in " to someone every week, because I am so good at lying to myself. =+) Though to be honest, I don't think I've actually stayed for a meeting since I joined this group. =+) So, my opinion is that this group is sufficient for support, really. Now, as to the whole Points program, I think it's great, because it's just the right combination of rules and flexibility for me. Too much either way, and whoops! all the weight's back on. =+) Basically, every food is assigned a " Points " value based on a formula involving calories, fat, and fiber. You get so many Points per day, depending on your weight, plus 35 " flex points " per week that you can splurge all at once, dole out through the week, or not use at all (I splurge, heehee). You can *also* earn extra points for the day by exercising. So, if I want some pizza, I can have some, without feeling like I've " blown " the day, etc. You just *spend* the points, like you would spend money, on whatever food you eat, until they're all gone. (many veggies have 0 points, so even if you are out of points, you can still eat) Now, here's my controversial opinion: I don't see anything wrong with someone in your situation following the program without paying every week. I think the website will let you order a Points calculator (or you should be able to pick one up wherever they have meetings) and a couple of the books without you having to commit to anything. Some people may argue that doing that would be like stealing, but I usually kick those people in the shins and they hobble off. =+) Catalina > I was wondering what the group thinks of the weight watchers > program? Guest guest
Catalina, Yup right on the ww website there is a key to meeting types key to Meetings types OPEN HOURS MOM, DAD & ME 50+ MEN NEW MEETING EXPRESS MEETING and the one in my town is at the seniors center and listed as one of the 50+. Im not suprised a large portion of this whole areas population are older folks. I definately like the idea of the points thing but I dont really think I can afford the 12 bucks a week plus babysitting to be able to go to the meetings. I have heard of people finding ways to get the points calculators and such without joining. Im with you that it isnt like stealing. I would have no problem paying for that stuff if I could buy it without the commitment of the weekly meetings and all. I'll kick em in the shins too lol! > > I was wondering what the group thinks of the weight watchers > > program? I was looking at their website. Guest guest
, I'm not a big " plan " kind of person. I have a thing about, I know how to eat, I'm not going to pay anyone. It's just me. I just think I need to get my butt in gear and be good! But for those who need that structure and stuff, maybe I should..... anyway, from everything I have heard, WW is the best! Their plan is to teach you how to eat properly and how to make it something you can live with. Gena > I was wondering what the group thinks of the weight watchers > program?
