Guest guest
Christy, Am I reading this right, hubby doesn't want to lift weights because he doesn't want to lose weight? That's a new one on me! I mean yes, weight lifting is encouraged for weight loss but most people, especially women are misguided thinking it will make them gain. In the case of men though, this is true and acually for women too, to a point. You will gain weight initially, average is 6 lbs but then the weight loss gets easier because when you have more muscle you burn more cals. But the very reason men do lift weights, is to gain weight! That is because men naturally put on muscle easier then women. So if hubby is concerned about losing weight, tell him he wants to lift weights! I have some articles on basic rules of lifting weights. I'll look back in archives and try to find them. Gena My DH is a skinny minny! I wish he would do weights with me, but he's so afraid of losing weight. I've gone through all the arguments with him about muscle weighing more than fat and that his work as a CNA/CMT isn't enough to keep him healthy for life, but he believes otherwise. Guest guest
Christy, Thanks..It has become almost like an addiction. If I don't my exerise in I am a major crab butt! lol I want the 4 mile as well and I plan to get it some time this month. The 2 mile has started to become pretty easy for me to get thru. I have started to do bigger movements than they are doing and do arm movements thru the whole tape to make it a better workout. The 3 mile seems right on for me right now. I think the 4 mile will be a challange..something I could do once a week to start out with. Your not whimping out. I tried to do a kickboxing video that i have by Austin today. I pull it out over so often and give it a go. It's high impact(jumps, kicks, ect) I can only get thru 10 min of it still. I just don't have the lung power. I am begining to wonder if I will ever be able to do high impact again. For now until I can or even if I can't I am just going to keep increasing the time on the low impact. Maybe it will just take longer for us to get out stamina built up to be able to do the high impact stuff. Keep at it thou it can only get better Rhonda PS: WHich Walk Away tapes do you have? > I really admire how much effort you are putting into exercise. I wish I could do that. I'm lucky to get in 30 minutes a day! Have you seen that WATP 4 mile yet? I've got it on my Christmas list. It's at Wal-Marts here for 8.78. Good luck. By the way, I can really hoof it on the 2 mile, but when I went to do a cardio tape or my elliptical, I had a harder time. AM I wimping out? Keep up the great work! > > Christy M. > >
Guest guest
Christy- It's such a shame the diet is viewed as a last resort. Can you try pushing for it? You have tried many different drugs and he's doesn't seem to really be responding. I think the diet should at least be considered. Are they trying to push for ACTH? If so the diet and the drug don't mix well. Most hospitals that have keto centers will refuse to put a child on the diet while on the drug or taper it as soon as possible. It's a nasty drug but has done wonders, most people agree that it helped only for a period of time then the honeymoon was over. There is a very knowledgeable lady at Hopkins who can also help you determine if the diet will be helpful for Sebastian. If she thinks he is a good candidate she can help you locate a hospital who has had the proper training to start the diet. Her name is Pillas and her phone is , she usually answers the phone and if not then she returns calls, same day. She welcomes calls.
