Guest guest
i am new to this group and have just begun to read thru the messages posted to see what i may learn that will be applicable to my daughters situation. she is 41/2 years old, autistic and non-verbal. she has been in speech therapy and aba therapy for 2 years and her primary form of communication is sign language. she does approximate some sounds but has no independently produced words. recently i had an evaluation with a group in nj who are familiar with the prompt method and they felt it would be helpful. unfortunately there are no trained therapists in my area (northern fl. my present speech therapist is sadly lacking and i do not feel there are gains being made. i am not sure how much info to provide about tx's already tried, biomedical being used, etc. i have never participated in a group before and hope that i may gain some useful info. is there someone out there who's child is in similar situation who has found a method or resource that has proven helpful? thanks for the site and all the info it provides.
