Guest guest
Hi, we were seeing an SLP who had diagnosed my son with apraxia 8 months ago. We just changed SLP's and the one we just started seeing (who is prompt trained) doesn't think my son has apraxia. She has seen him 3 times now. She told me apraxia is controversial and there are different opinions. I'm a little skeptical because the former SLP was a director and very experienced, whereas the our current SLP isn't as experienced. However, he has made so much progress I'm wondering if he may have lost the apraxia. Eight months ago he was only saying about 10-15 words, and now he is saying 80+ words and speaking 3-4 word sentences. He is very verbal and talks a lot, but you have a hard time understanding him. His school SLP also thinks he has apraxia. Should I get another assessment/opinion somewhere else? Thanks, Patty
