Guest guest
I had my son son is Speech Therapy since 9 mos old, he is 7 years old now. He is developmentally between 18 and 36 mos old. Speech was always a biggest problem - he just doesn't want to be at the speech therapy. We have good sessions but majority is whining and crying. He just wants to sit and play without work. He babbles often and can say a few words, does well when use sign language along with words. He gets cranky just as soon as he sees SLP office. I am taking a break from ST for now to see if he is bored or just plain tired. Therapy is often right after school (7am - 2pm with an hour nap). SLP think that my son is tired after school and doesn't have enough energy for the therapy. He is hypotonic (low muscle tone). He does great at OT but OT is much more fun and play for him than speech. He babbles frequently and happy during OT except parts when he has to draw or touch weired objects (SI dysfunction). I would love to get some ideas how to make speech fun. I understand that I've given a very short description of my son but I really hope for some help. I've done loads of evaluations and on a waiting list to see Dr Levine. I also intend to visit local TEACHH program. My son's current SLP is very knowledgable and comlited lots of courses including PROMPT but we are just stuck on his unwillingness to work Thank you --------------------------------- Autos.
