Dear Ivy,

Unfortunately, not a fix for the itching/burning, but... Dehydration can cause your urine to be a lot darker than usual, and will also make it's scent stronger. I'm almost always dehydrated and don't know it (I don't feel thirsty!) aside from those symptoms. If you haven't already, try drinking more water than usual. And eating more salt, which helps you retain the water better.

Odd question

I've had itching and burning for almost a month now, used metrogel for BV, then had a herpes outbreak and took my Valtrex. Then had to go on antibiotics for a sinus infection and the itching/burning came back so I took a diflucan. The itching and burning is still going on and I have a thick white discharge (sorry). I went to the gyno, she looked at it under the scope and said she'd never seen so many cells layer upon layer before. She didn't see any sign of yeast or BV so she sent it off for culture. It came back negative for anything.

To top it off my urine is really concentrated and dark and has a funny odor. She's got me on Cipro for a UTI even though that culture too came out negative.

I'm stumped and so is she. Any clues?

Oh, I'm also taking a probiotic daily and she gave me oral Nystatin (Mycostatin? ) and 2 more diflucans to take in case it's systemic yeast.

Today I called her office and asked them to check my liver and kidney function via blood test after doing some reading on the dark colored urine on the net.

I'd welcome feedback on this and sorry to get graphic.
