Aimee:

When you talk to Dr. Levin, you will find that he covers just

about everything. I ended up not having to ask any questions because he had

already told me everything I wanted to know.

As for using a doctor that you don't know: I felt more

comfortable going to Dr.Levin and Jewish Hospital because of their reputation.

If you

still feel uncomfortable, make sure you see your regular doctor before hand

and see if he/she feels you are physically OK for surgery. You are in very

good, very experienced hands with Dr. L. He is very personable and will make

you

feel relaxed.

Hope all goes well for you!

Aimee,

Yes, coupons are our friends too; we also maximize our grocery dollar

when we see the famous buy 1 get 1 free, plus we use

angelfoodministries.com (our church is a host site) to supplement our

food budget. No one is going hungry.

We went with the bundle for our cable (no frills, just basic),

internet and home phone. We do have a cell phone plan but it truly

cannot be beat because of the discounts I get (my DH's is basically

free as long as we can stay below 1500 minutes, so I use the house

phone when home and after 7pm and on weekends, we use the

cells...lol).

If I am not mistaken, I do not believe major utilities can be

disconnected to homes where there is a medical need for the utilities

(i.e. in my case, I have COPD, I would need a phone in case of a life-

threatening event; my kids are special needs kids, one has possible

seizure disorder), but that requires going in and checking with the

folks face-to-face.

It's not easy for any of us to pull ourselves out of any hole we dug

ourselves into.....I'm seeing that all over the place. Our meds

sometimes cause us to make choices we shouldn't have to make. But I

know there are programs out there by some major pharmaceutical

companies to help folks get their meds.

We're all in this boat together. I think if we have good tips to pass

on to help someone out, we need to do it. Aimee, I like your idea

abou the St. De group - my aunt and uncle are part of

that and they are always donating stuff, have a food pantry, etc.

As for bankruptcy, well, it's NOT the end of the world. It does " mess

things up " for a period of years, but you know what? If that is what

it takes to get the wolf off the door and get some breathing room,

then so be it. As the saying goes " this too shall pass " !

((((Hugs to all my fibro friends in the debt nightmare))))
