Guest guest
I'm pretty sure that my daughter's speech delay is caused by gluten. I was on a gluten/dairy free diet for 6 months when she was 7 mo because I was breastfeeding her and suspected gluten allergy/intolerance. At 8 mo she started eating solids and her diet was also gluten/dairy free. She made huge improvements in her motor and social skills after I went on this diet. For instance, she didn't roll over until a couple of weeks after I started this diet (she was closer to 8 mo), she started crawling, walking, babbling, etc. I introduced gluten again into my diet when she started saying her first words and imitating everything she heard. But I was able to notice that she lost most of the words (still few) that she had acquired and that she lost the interest in imitating words. Now, I've been eating gluten again for 6 months and my daughter has been very slowly acquiring " words " . Her speech is at the level of a 12-15 month old baby (which happenend to be the age at which I stopped the gluten free diet). If I'm so pretty sure that gluten is the culprit why don't I go back to the gluten free diet? 1) I'm going back to Mexico and it's going to be pretty difficult to find gluten free products; 2) I don't want to restrict her diet before I try other options. I would like to try the PROEFA first and see if that takes care of the problem, but I'm afraid of side effects. I don't know if she's too little (she weights 22 pounds) to take this supplement. Has someone been in a similar situation? Should I forget about the fish oil and just do the gluten free diet again? Thank you, sorry it was long, a
